I'm not sure Penn State can beat anybody by 29

    Haha, sadly I agree.

Steve, is all of this expansion talk BS or is something really going to happen? What does the SEC do for #14? Does Texas end up as an IND? What about the B1G? Mizzou, WVU, ND? What is your gut telling you?

Looks like SEC targeted Missouri to go in with Texas A&M. Sounds like Big 12 will try and stay together in some form, but now they're down to 8. The Big Ten only expands if Notre Dame or Texas want in. No reason to split their massive pie with schools that won't help them grow that pie in the future.

I guess I'd disagree with you on Illinois. That just says trap game after they beat ASU and think they are all that.

Thats the fun of it, well see who is right on Saturday.

How soon until the NC-double a$$holes make their final ruling?

Loss of schollies expected, or nothing more then vacated wins?

It will be sometime between Oct. 15-Nov. 15 likely. My guess is they could get dinged 5 scholarships over a couple of years. No postseason ban in my opinion ... now OSU may self impose one if this season goes into the dumper (LOL) and it looks like they have to play in Detroit.

    Urban Meyer

    Luke Fickell

    John Gruden

    Tim Beckman

    Nick Saban

Rank them 1-5 in order of who you want as OSU HC moving forward...

    Man, talk about tough questions.

I am pulling personally for Luke Fickell to get it. He is a Buckeye through and through and a Columbus guy. He's been an assistant for 10-11 years. He's in the prime of his life. It would be a great story if he could pick up the ball and run with it. He's in a real tight spot with this QB mess, though, and the suspensions.

How could you argue against guys like Meyer and Saban who have won multiple national titles, though.

Beckman is a good up and coming coach. Let's see how he does with Toledo in the MAC.

I don't think I'd want Gruden. He'd be good copy and play well with the media. But he's never coached college ball or had to recruit. Just understanding the NCAA rules is hard coming from the NFL (ask Petey). I doubt Gruden wants it, though. He has it real easy saying everybody is great on ESPN.

I'd like to see Fickell succeed and be OSU's next great coach.

If you have a chance to get Meyer, though, and some how keep Fickell as the HC in waiting then that would be something good IMO.

    Meyer 1, Fickell 2, Saban 3, Beckman 4, Gruden 5, anybody else 6

What kind of improvements have you seen from this Michigan team compared to previous 2 years?

I mean I've seen the scoring defense improve, but I haven't seen the play improve much based on some game I've watched.

Is this team improved or is this the same team everyone got hyped about the last two years just to see them fall on their face come BIG play?

Great question, RichRod's teams always looked against ND and the MAC teams too and then fell apart every Oct. 1. That will be the real test for Hoke.

His next 4 weeks will be interesting: SDSU at home, eases into Big Ten with Minnesota at home and then at NW and at MSU. They could be 6-0 when they get to East Lansing.

But like their guy Eninem says, "Crash back down to reality, oops there goes gravity ..."

There is a ceiling to how good this team can be. They still have some defensive issues they need to rectify. They are finding out they have to turn Denard loose to overcome some offensive deficiencies as well (i.e. no I-back).

This week's game will tell us a lot. SDSU is 3-0 and will be jacked up. If they dominate them, then they may have something.

Realistically? Urban Meyer. He'd be at the top of my overall list as well, but I would love energetic young guys like Dan Mullen, Al Golden, and Pat Fitzgerald to get interviews. Based on his relationship with JoePa and his current situation, though, Meyer seems most likely as long as we could sway him from OSU. And I'd be just fine with that.

That would be the coup of all coups. Will the Meyers want to move back up to the snow belt? He could have his pick of jobs. Will Penn State (or Ohio State) give him the $3.5-4 million a year or more he'd need so his salary matches the other NC coaches out there?

I guess I am really at a loss as to how Texas is considering the PAC-12. Just doesn't make any sense. Is the Big 10 rejecting Texas or is Texas rejecting the Big 10. Also, I am now reading that ND will consider the ACC over the Big 10. What gives with that?? I realize everything seems to changing every two hours but how realistic is it that Texas ends up in the PAC 12 and ND goes to the ACC??

I don't think the Big Ten wants anything to do with Texas and the Longhorn Network. The Big Ten has been built on equality -- one for all and all for one. Texas upsets that balance with its demands for bigger pieces of all the pies.

Notre Dame is just looking for a soft landing place. My guess is they figure they can recruit in the Midwest just fine. By playing in the ACC, that opens up huge doors for them up and down the East Coast and into Florida, Georgia, etc.

It looks like the Pac-12 is staying with 12. Only way 16 there made sense is if they could rip up their existing TV deals and get even better deals so everybody made more money. Short of that, why take your billion (or whatever it is) and divide it 16 ways instead of 12? It needs to be $1.5 billion to make any sense. Right? Or am I missing something? What's the advantage for USC or Oregon to have its shot at national titles and BCS bowl bids negated by having to play Texas and Oklahoma ... and getting less money to do it?
