There are 12 teams in the conference.
Also, with 4 year scholarships, you aren't going to see many 25 man recruiting classes going forward. If scholarships get reduced to 80 overall, parity's going to be more common.
Recruiting is a dirty game, but it's the way the world is. I'm not going to whine about Pittman. I will say that if tOSU takes off, it's more Michigan's problem than MSU's for 2 reasons.
1) MSU wasn't pulling the top OH talent when JT was around, so it's not like Meyer "locking up the state" is going to really affect MSU's talent. Michigan, on the other hand, is counting on some of those guys. Go get'em!
2) MSU and tOSU aren't protected rivals, so they meet, what, twice every 6 years or something like that? UM has to play tOSU every year; I have no problem with our mutual rival taking a yearly beating at the hands of Meyer; helps MSU's shot at going to the CCG. Whether or not MSU can beat tOSU in the CCG is kind of immaterial right now; State's still building its program, so any type of success is good.
So go do work Meyer!

One more thought: You look at the bottom five classes in the Big Ten with Minnesota, Indiana, Northwestern, Wisconsin and Illinois.
They are at the bottom of the rankings for all of the 64 or so BCS schools and even below some non-BCS schools like Houston and Arkansas State. That can't happen.
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

Bucknut 24 it is obvious you haven't been around for awhile. Michigan has always recruited well in Ohio going back to the days of Bo vs Woody. Michigan also seems to get the best in terms of players (2 Heisman winners) and people with class. Urban will fit in well at Ohio (win at no cost). You have owned Michgan the past 10 years by using a cheat and a liar for a coach. You have taken a step up by getting your own version of a snake oil salesman. The only question is how long before he quits this time?? Funny thing though, with all the winning you have had lately over Michigan, your still 14 years away from just breaking even. Doesn't say much about your program after all!!

That's because no one wants to recruits crappy michigan HS players who are by national standards, are both terrible and dumb. There is an exception once in a while and he usually chooses tOSU. The only question about which coach will be around the longest is if the Joke chokes on a pork chop, is it true his family members have actually tried to eat each other? you are right, we are 14 down, because before it became important to us to kick your asses, we spotted you 14 games in the beginning, so since then, we're even, stupid.

I think TTUN started stealing recruits before Coach Meyer did. He convinced Kalis to switch and had his tusks in Dunn before Meyer snatched from his grip. Everybody is quick to point out all the recruits we convinced to switch, but everybody gives TTUN a free pass.

Cry me a river Dantonio and Bielama. This gentleman's agreement is over. New regime has come to town. Do your job and recruit until they sign. They're not yours until they sign on the dotted line.
And it's not going to be the Big 2 little 9. It's going to be the Big 1 and little 10. Look what Urban did in two months. The only reason TTUN had a top 10 class is because of osu's instability and they landed some Ohio talent. The Ohio fence is up and majority of the best will be wearing scarlet and grey.

Another Bucknut who doesn't have a clue. Check your history; a rookie Michigan coach (Bo) beat Woody in his first year when Ohio was predicted to win the national championship. You have owned Michigan the last 10 years because of a coach who cheated and lied. Yes, the playing field is (hopefully) now level. Michigan will continue to get prime talent in Ohio because a Michigan degree is worth more than a degree from Ohio. Oh, that's right, who cares about a degree.

What whiners! I live in Michigan and Drew Sharps aticle in The Free Press is comical. How can it be "stealing" recruits who are from Ohio and want to be Buckeyes? Meyer has backed off of Kalis and Diamond. And Michigan "stole" one from Cincinnati at the last minute, but that was all right because they are "Michigan". Wasn't Dantonio talking to Adolphus until the end? It's a new era in the Big 10. Good luck to Michigan without Ohio's best!!!

. Not sold on Martinez (or Pelini as an in-game coach) and I think they're looking at 2013 as the earliest time when they can field a full compliment of Big 10 LBs.
