  • Never have understood the media's love affair with Southern Cal. They are overrated EVERY year.

The Gamecocks will not fall to the Outback. Citrus bowl is the WORST case scenario.

  • Perfect storm for UofM last year and their schedule. I don't see them getting more then eight wins and have them pegged for seven. Their best win last year was beating a Nebraska team that was REALLY struggling and beating a 6 win Ohio State team.

The Alabama game will be very ugly.

#12 Ohio State? That's too much respect being given to Urban Meyer and the players hitting the field this season.

This clown is a well-known OSU homer. The fact that they let him release "Blue" articles is ridiculous and nonsensical.

Interesting picks....and can't really argue with them, Steve. Be prepared for pitchforks for ranking the scUM bears ahead of OSU, but for now, it is arguably a good pick. The postings of scUM going 7-5 are kind of laughable as I look back on it, buy hey, debate is what this Forum is all about. I think the top 5 are a given this year -- after that, it is a crapshoot.

Sounds like sour grapes. 40-34... there feel better ?.

Pegged for seven? I feel like that is the worst case scenario. Michigan has a tough schedule, but seven wins means absolutely EVERYTHING would have to go wrong for Michigan. I think Michigan will win at least two against MSU, OSU, Nebraska, and ND.

  • Add Deanthony Thomas to that Heismen watch list. Kid is bound for greatness. As a receiver, running back and kick/punt returner, oh and ST defense. He's all over the field. Rose Bowl...two runs 155 yards. Enough said. And all the hype surrounding SC is just that....hype!!! Watch as the Ducks walk over the Trojans Nov 3rd. Never underestimate Chip K. We have a QB by the name of Marcus Mariota. The nation will know his name by the end of the year as the Ducks stroll into the NCG after embarrasing USC at the collesium.

perfect storm season for M last year and got totally outplayed by VT in bcs game...you're definitely giving them too much love...

Maybe you are right. I think about having defensive stability with 7 starters back, if they can still score 30 a game with Denard and improve even 4-5 points a game on defense, they could be tough to deal with.

How is Missouri not even in your top 37? You have Oklahoma State ranked 21st with a freshman QB, but Missouri isn't even in the top 37. Really?

That may have been an oversight ... slip them into the extras. Mizzou was 8-5 last year and moves up to the SEC. It helps they are in the lesser East, although South Carolina and Georgia should be tough.

I look at Missouri as an 8-4 team. They figure to lose to Ga and Alabama at home and at South Carolina. If they can win one or 2 of the three road games at Fla, Tenn or Texas A&M, that would be great. They did win at TAM in OT last year.

I have respect for Franklin and Pinkel quietly has been as effective as almost anybody the last 6-8 years. I deliberated long and hard about Mizzou. I just thought moving to SEC has 7-5 written all over it.

How is Oregon ranked that high?

They have a system that just keeps winning games ... that's how. The names change, but the results are usually the same (10-2 or better)

USC vs Nebraska again but in the Outback bowl. Boo this man. If a lot of research went into this wow not impressive. Tajh Boyd and Sammy POTkins Heisman Watch are you kidding more so laughable toward Boyd I just like Potkins new name. Southern Cal in the National title game LOL. This list and projections are funny.

OK, I take it you are a South Carolina fan.

I have them No. 7, but that puts them fourth in the SEC. They can't get into a BCS game from there. They were in Capital One last year. They want different teams each year, so you get shuffled down to Outback. That's just how it works.

I think South Carolina could be 10-2, maybe 11-1. At LSU, probably forget it unless something amazing happens. Georgia is a tossup, even at home, and so is Arkansas, likely. At Clemson at the end is a rivalry game.

I think seven is right for them. Get a break or 2 they get to the SEC title game, but that is no bargain with LSU/Alabama winner waiting on them there.

How do you have Wisconsin below Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State. We always replace lineman and our defense will be better than last years defense by far. Yes we lost Wilson however if Danny OB returns to his freshman form when he was in a pro-style offense they will again be top notch. Losing Toon doesn't hurt as much considering he was injured often. Michigan State lost more playmakers than Wisconsin did so how is it you have them ahead? Could say Cousins ment more to Mich. St. than Wilson did to Wisconsin!!!

I like Wisconsin. Just 2 linemen coming back on offense, 6 new assistant coaches, new QB. I like O'Brien, but he was up and down a lot at Maryland last year.

The schedule is good for Wisconsin, which doesn't play Michigan. I just think they aren't on the same level as last year. Wilson was a special cat. Ball is a great runner, but defenses had to account for Wilson. That won't be the case this year. It's either a run or O'Brien sitting in pocket, no freelance to account for.

Gonna be a fun year. As I've said, move Wisconsin directly to Indy.

    Great stuff.

The description of how TCU ended up in the Big12 has a typo in it somewhere.:

"TCU was in the Mountain West, but jumped at an invite to join the Big 12. But when teams started leaving the Big 12, that conference came after TCU. The Horned Frogs leaped at that offer, ending their association with the Big East before it ever got started."

Is that first Big12 supposed to be Big East? Sorry, don't mean to be that guy.

These are very well thought out rankings, and make a lot of sense. It all sounds good to me. Go Cocks!

I will fix whatever is amiss there. Good catch.

I watched 5 of their spring practices and they seem greatly improved. Even the receiver play isn't as bad as it''s being made out to be. Miller is a different guy in this offense. Simon is a beast on defense.

They were 6-7 last year, but they were probably the best 6-7 team in college football. They defeated Wisconsin (albeit on somewhat of a Hail Mary).

They got rolled at Miami, no doubt about that.

The team had no discernible leadership. That was apparent as they lost 6 games by a TD or less. They lost to MSU by 3 at home. Had Neb beat there and let them off hook and lost by 7. Missed a late PAT at Purdue, went OT and lost by 3 there. Penn state lost at home by 6 (that one they were never in it). Lost at Michigan by 6 in a touch-and-go type game. Lost to Florida by 7, outplaying the Gators 6 ways from Tuesday at scrimmage but giving up blocked punt and kick return for touchdowns.

There is something there. Just figuring out how to win is the key. 12 is about right. They end up roughly 10-2 or 9-3.

I like your optimism and South Carolina is a GREAT bowl travel team. My thought was they were there last year, so they like to change things up and give fans a different city to travel to. That's all. Could go either way.

I don't feel like an OSU homer, I really don't. I try and look at things objectively. If I'm off on something, tell me what you think I'm missing and why I'm wrong.

    SteveHelwagen

  • Yeah, I think it definitely helps they don't have to play those West powerhouses, just like last year. That's a huge benefit. Good news is you get them at home. Win that game, finish tied with them and win the tiebreaker.

South Carolina could well be the better team. But that may not be reflected in the records.

UGA's Defense was not good last year. Look at what quality SEC oppenents did to them, and MSU's comeback in the bowl game. SC wins the east with one SEC loss to LSU on the road.

yeah, a top 5 defense is not good at all lol, you Scar homers never stop with dumb post.
