... Decide to come back to UM for his sophomore season. Even though it's a weak draft for point guards and Trey likely would have been a late first-round pick, Satch told Trey that he thought he should stay in college. Trey came to his former high school coach, asked him what he should do and asked him to be straight with him. Satch told him, "You need to stay. You'll be a good player at the next level one day, but you're not ready. You need to get better at the pick-and-roll. You need to get better at decision-making and shooting. You're only 5-11. You need to stay and work on your craft."
I interviewed Satch for our radio show on Bucknuts today and wanted to pass this on.
(Buckeye fans, please don't get mad at Satch. Ha. Trey is like a son to him and he was just giving him real advice. Although, even taking the Buckeye blinders off, I think Burke should have declared for the draft. We might never see a PG draft this weak again and the NBA loves them some PGs. Passing up the chance to be a sure-fire first-round pick is not something I would want my son doing. However, Satch gave the same advice to Jared last year.)
