Presidents Get Playoff Call Right

    I'm glad the stupid idea of requiring playoff teams to be conference champs did not win out. The only reason you move to a playoff is to get the best teams playing each other. It's conceivable that one conference could have two or three of the best teams in the nation. Why should the other team be shut out because they play in the same conference when if they played in another, the team would steamroll the inferior conference? It appears they came to their senses.

    The problem comes in when a conference champion gets passed over for the team they just beat in the conference championship game.

    The conference championship games become less meaningful if you can't look at them as preliminary rounds in the playoff. If there is a tie in for champions, then you're looking at potentially 10-12 teams that have a legitimate chance to kick ass in their championship game and get elevated to the playoff field.

    If you have a 2 loss conference champion get passed over for a 1 loss team they just beat, in a championship game, what the heck was the point of that game?
