We may take one or two JuCOs a year. If we recruit them, they will play, and they will contribute. Most notably Lavonte David. This is an extreme instance, but just and example. He is the record setter for tackles in a season, and I want to say top 10 in all time tackles for a career. Not bad for a JUCO. JuCOs are not bad by any means.

No I dont think JUCOS are bad and am really on the fence about them I kinda wish we were more open to them....I believe that they would have been a great help to UM especially when you have a young inexperienced team

Usually about 3 tops. There's always a couple studs in the group. We get them pretty handedly. This year, we had a great walkon class. Usually Nebraska boys will run through fire to be on the team. Hence, we don't always have to offer scholarships.

Gopher is right, but to put this into perspective.

We landed a single in-state recruit this year.

The rest came outside our borders.

California, Texas, Ohio, Florida, Illinois, etc.

We have landed recruits from literally all 50 states throughout the years. We have strongholds in some portions of the country but truly do go coast to coast moreso than any other program in the nation

90- 95% of our scholarships go to guys outside our state boundarys. I don't think there is another program like that. Certainly not one with as much tradtion and history as Nebraska.

I think we only recruit them due to needs. It's obviously best to supplement your program through guys who have been in the system for a couple years, but with new and young coaches, they can be an asset to the team. Then you get the rarity of a Lonte David, and dare I say Cam Newton. no

yes that is what I was wondering about I would say that you and ND recruit nationally more then any other I always wanted to know why you guys dont pull more Texas kids especially when you guys were in the big 12

I dont know if id consider Cam to be a straight out JUCO player I mean the only reason he had to go that route was because of the trouble in Florida oh and by the way
    FUCK THE SEC

Texas wasn't our only grounds. More of a myth. We pulled talent out of there, and UT wasn't our whole program.

I just figured with all things considered(goegraphically and tradition) you guys would have been a bigger player down in texas

  • i must admit granted I luv the Mich and Ohio rivalry but Ive always considered the Nebraska and Oklahoma rivalry to be right up there with it kinda sad to see it come to an end

He's our AD now, and a god in many aspects. True asset to the program. Love an old school guy like that.

In an odd way, I think Pelini can be that next guy. He gets a bad rep from the outside world, but the players and students would sprint through walls for him. He really is a great guy.

We were a big player, and still are. Our location is tough. That's the reason for going coast to coast.

We have pulled Texas kids, but it wasn't like many would be led to believe.

We have 22 (or something like that) Texas kids on our roster. That is about 4 or 5 a year. Other than Rex Burkhead there isn't a single Texas kid making much of an impact on our wins and losses.

Many thought we 'thrived' on Texas kids in the past, but that was none-the-such.

We have actually gotten greater rewards from California, and New Jersey (upper East Coast). Missouri and Kansas have been better to Nebraska than Texas to be rightfully honest.

That is the ONLY thing I miss from that conference. When it was the Big 8,that was an unreal rivalry. Basically that game decided who was going to the NC each year.

He coached under some great coaches. He has a bright future. In all honesty, I think he was going to Nebraska near no matter what. If we would of passed on him, he woulda been up for grabs.

He's a young HC, and the growing pains have shown through. It's really starting to come together for him though.

Time to change that motto of 'Fuck the SEC'.

We need to change it to, the 'SEC is our bitch'.

It will happen. I know it will. In the meantime, the SEC can circle-jerk all they want. A couple of sanctions, and a couple of coaches leaving and...
