In the eyes of so many, Derek Dooley won't get a fourth season in Knoxville, which would leave the operative term "when" and not 'if." It seems likely that athletic director Dave Hart would let Dooley finish the season even if the Vols drop their contest to in-state rival Vanderbilt next week. Perhaps an announcement on his impending dismissal would come before the Kentucky game, though, if the Vols fall to the Commodores. Nonetheless, Dooley won't get a chance to continue to stabilize a program that had fallen on hard times in the final years of the Phil Fulmer regime as well as Lane Kiffin's lone season. If the Vols are able to net a bowl berth, an assistant coach would likely coach the game.
The Vols head coach won't return in 2013.
