Louisville's Strong on SEC programs' radars

  • From a list that includes Kirby Smart, Sonny Dykes and Butch Jones, Charlie Strong may wind up being the most hotly pursued coach for whichever big jobs become available at season's end -- or even before. [Strong's record]: 23-12 in third year with the Cardinals. This season: 9-0 and ranked ninth in latest BCS standings. Potential jobs: Arkansas, Tennessee, Auburn. What it would take: The allure of playing for a national championship in an elite conference that recruits the South. Lacking that, Strong has everything he could want in Louisville -- including a Heisman Trophy-quality quarterback in Teddy Bridgewater and a young team that could conceivably compete at the highest level next year.

From Yahoo! Sports: Only two schools officially have jobs open. That doesn't mean many others haven't already begun to look for new coaches.

  • Won't happen. CCS even said so on the Jim Rome Show. Before you say that Petrino said the same thing, do you really think CCS is lacking so much integrity that he would follow in CBP's footsteps? I don't think so.

    I hate Kentucky.

  • Funny how Louisville is viewed as a second rate program but everyone seems to be after their coaches. Personally, with Louisville having one of the youngest teams in college football this year, Strong will be back next year to enjoy the ride.

The ride of a crap conference imploding?

No. Most agree that Louisville should be a lot of fun next year with the entire team returning along with Teddy Bridgewater. If the conference is crap next year, that won't change the fact the Louisville should be an outstanding team and it should be a fun ride. Thanks for asking so that it could be clarified.

Undefeated and not even being mentioned for a national championship. If a major program comes calling, Charlie Strong would be crazy not to leave

Louisville is out of luck when SEC teams need a good coach, and a good coach is at Louisville. "Spring board job"

  • I don't think it's out of the question that Strong would return to Louisville to coach a top 10 team next year.

You might be ranked in the top 10, but I dont think you are a legit top 10 team. You barely scraped by against teams like South Florida. Florida International, and Southern Miss. There are probably 5 teams in the SEC alone better than you in reality. You can also add FSU, Clemson, Oregon, Kansas State, Notre Dame, and probably a handful of other teams that are better than you
