Tuesday Rumor Mill: 11-13-2012 Part 2

  • * We're told Arkansas is feeling really good about it's chances of landing Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy. TCU's Gary Patterson remains in the mix. There are still other fallback candidates/

    * Informed sources tell us Duke coach David Cutcliffe unlikely to land and Kentucky and is rumored to be supporting San Jose coach Mike MacIntyre for the job. Cutcliffe has a long relationship with Kentucky AD Mitch Barnhart.

    * There's a lot of smoke around USC coach Lane Kiffin. If the Trojans lose to Notre Dame and UCLA, AD Pat Haden could decide to pull the plug.

    * Informed sources tell us that Cal coach Jeff Tedford is unlikely to return in 2013.

I would think that Haden and USC would cut off Lane even if he splits with ND and USC, there is no reason not to win both by 14+. Both would be horrible losses by USC.

you really think that after the way the season has played out, USC should beat ND by 14??

I'll take ND and UCLA both at +14 thank you very much.

That smoke is not coming from Heritage Hall. Lane is safe this year.

  • Mike McIntyre would be a solid get for Kentucky. He is a true rising star in the coaching world due to his connections to the Southeast and the NFL.

Remember when Tedford was THE hot name?

Thank you. I'd like him to sign a 10 year extension.

  • It is CRAZY that Kiffen's job security is even a rumor at this point. I understand he was given a roster with a lot of talent, but he has done a tremendous job recruiting through some hard times there. He hasn't been given much time at all yet.

  • I hope Lane stays. I hope he hires Nick Holt as his DC.

Tedford would be good for BC. He can get a program to mid level but isn't suited to take them the next step up. BC needs to move to mid level.

I agree. He recruits like no other, but his leadership and coaching is way behind. I also, hope he doesn't hire an Oc or new DC. I hope Lane sticks around for the laughs and to actually see what ridiculous thing he does next.

Looks like the lady in charge at CAL had a little meeting with Tedford. He's gone, I thought they should have fired him last year.

  • Lane Kiffen and his ethics have no place in college football.

  • Is Charlie Strong not as hot of a commodity as I thought? I thought with his Arkansas roots he'd be in line for that job, yet I don't hear his name associated with any jobs. Is he just in that "fall back" category?

Says the Louisville fan. I think you may be right but there is gonna be alot of $ on the table. Plus, he doesn't really believe you can play for a National Championship at The Ville.

BTW I kinda like Louisville and wouldn't object to them joining The B1G for FWIW.

While he has done a tremendous job recruiting; his teams have not only underachieved, but Lane has given USC a few black eyes with off the field stuff. I mean, do you honestly believe the manager acted alone in deflating the balls? How do you explain the Colorado incident? That is a pattern.
