Alabama finishes No. 1 again

For the third consecutive recruiting cycle, Alabama is the recruiting national champion.

Alvin Kamara was the clinching commit for Alabama to be No. 1 again.

The Crimson Tide finished No. 1 overall for the Class of 2013, according to the 247Sports team football recruiting rankings. This follows No. 1 rankings in both the 2012 and 2011 cycles.

Ohio State (No. 2), Notre Dame (No. 3), Florida (No. 4) and Michigan (No. 5) round out the current top five classes.

The commitment of four-star running back Alvin Kamara (Norcross, Ga.) sewed up the top spot for Bama.

This class has the usual star power you'd expect from one so highly-touted.

There are five prospects rated five-stars according to the recruiting industry-generated 247Composite, which rates and ranks players weighing prospect ratings and rankings equally from multiple recruiting media networks, including 247Sports. Among them are athlete/running back Derrick Henry (Yulee, Fla.), tight end O.J. Howard (Prattville, Ala./Autauga Academy), wide receiver Robert Foster (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley), linebacker/defensive end Jonathan Allen (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) and linebacker Reuben Foster (Auburn, Ala.).

This class also featured many prospects who were tops at their projected positions nationally. Henry (athlete), Howard (tight end), Leon Brown (JUCO offensive tackle), Brandon Hill (prep school offensive tackle) and Reuben Foster (inside linebacker) all were ranked No. 1 at their position according to the 247Composite.

Just as impressive as who the Tide is getting is where they are getting from.

There are 13 different states represented in this class and three of the five five-star prospects are from out-of-state.

Alabama also signed the top overall prospect in the states of Alabama (Reuben Foster), Arkansas (Altee Tenpenny), Pennsylvania (Robert Foster) and Utah (Cooper Bateman).

Claiming the top spot for the third straight cycle is an indicator that the Tide has signed the top class in the country according to the recruiting industry as a whole. 247Sports team rankings are based exclusively on prospect rankings and ratings from the 247Composite.
