Francis stands out at adidas event

DALLAS, Texas - The top adidas teams hit the courts in Dallas at the Exclusive Run this weekend. Friday night Brandone Francis got Florida Elite off to a strong start.

Brandone Francis is a physical and skilled shooting guard.

And strength is a good starting point for Francis. At 6-5, 200-pound, Francis bullied the smaller Dream Vision guards throughout the game. He constantly applied the pressure defensively, made pin point, crisp passes in transition and worked his way into the lane in the half court offense.

Plenty of schools are in pursuit of Francis. He listed offers from Washington, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Kansas State, SMU Minnesota, Georgia and Cincinnati. Indiana, Florida and Illinois are showing interest.

Indiana, Florida, Kansas State, Minnesota and Cincinnati are the most recent schools to check on him at Arlington Country Day School. Larry Brown of SMU was in the stands watching him Friday.

Francis listed Florida, Illinois, Kansas State and Minnesota as schools he would like to visit in the near future.

Other Notes

* Francis' teammate Dante Buford is an athletic power forward with upside. Buford said South Carolina, Cincinnati, Indiana, Oklahoma, LSU, Florida and West Virginia are recruiting him the hardest. South Carolina, Cincinnati and LSU have offered. He expects to visit Cincinnati in May.

* 2015 center Stephen Zimmerman of Dream Vision impressed with his midrange shooting along the baseline. The lefty has a soft touch. He also passed the ball well, especially out of the high post. Highly skilled for a young big man, the challenge for Zimmerman is to improve as a rebounder.

* His games' leading scorer with 16 points, Namon Wright is a dynamic prospect for Dream Vision. The four-star wing is terrific in transition and also made shots in the half court.

* 6-7 combo forward Cameron Walker was impressive with the Compton Magic's 2015 squad. A smooth shooter with a high skill level, Walker has people comparing him to Boston College forward Ryan Anderson. Walker has offers from San Diego State, Rice, Oregon State, Fresno State, Cal Irvine and Cal Poly. USC, UCLA, Arizona, Stanford, California, Harvard and others are also recruiting Walker. He plans to visit Arizona in the near future.

* Game Elite out of the Atlanta, Georgia area has plenty of talent. North Carolina State head coach Mark Gottfried was court side watching their top two 2015 prospects Daniel Giddens and Jaylen Brown.

* 2015 combo forward Kaiser Gates picked up where he left off last weekend. He drained shots and was active on the boards for the Atlanta Celtics.
