Lammons recaps amazing, crazy week

It happens every year after South Florida Express tryouts. A prospect from the South Florida ranks goes from relative unknown to one of the hottest names on the college landscape.

Lammons is very excited about his new offers from Florida, Florida State, Miami, and Ohio State.

The 2013 version is named Chris Lammons. Lammons is a 5-foot-10, 170-pound cornerback from Plantation (Fla.). 247Sports.com ranks Lammons as a three-star prospect.

Since last weekend, he has received offers from Miami, Florida, Florida State, and Ohio State. Those four join Indiana, Ole Miss, and South Florida.

“It has been amazing,” Lammons said. “It has also been crazy. I didn’t think it would be like this. This is what I always dreamed about and worked hard to get. Now that it is here, it is shocking.”

The first offer that came in after tryouts was from Miami.

“That felt good because growing up Miami was a team I always watched,” Lammons said. “To get an offer from them was just shocking.

“Miami is a great place,” Lammons added. “They have been recruiting me since my ninth grade year. For them to finally offer me, it meant a lot. They are just like a family there.”

Florida was next.

“It was shocking as well,” Lammons said. “You watch all these teams and their games. For them to then be after you. It is different. I watched Tim Tebow and Percy Harvin at Florida, and now I have an offer from them. To have a shot to go their school and play for them.”

The next day Florida State and Ohio State both tendered an offer.

“That was crazy because my role model was Greg Reid, the cornerback that used to play at Florida State,” Lammons said of the Seminoles. “He is a smaller guy kind of like me. I have always wanted to follow his footsteps and now I have an offer from them.”

“The Buckeyes had been showing me a lot of love,” Lammons said of Ohio State. “Getting an offer from them was just a great feeling.”

Lammons believes that his next offer may come from UCF.

At this point, he isn’t in a rush to make a decision. He claims no favorite or leader.

“I am just trying to do my research on all of the schools that offered me and then I will go from there,” Lammons said.

Lammons has attended multiple junior day events at Miami this year. In March, he plans to attend a junior day event at UCF.
