Sina and Northwestern are a great match.
Former Alabama commitment Jaren Sina had a lot of options, but Northwestern stood out as the best option.
Not wanting to waste the time of other coaches in July, Sina, a 6-foot-2 combo guard out of Gladstone (N.J.) Gill St. Bernard School, announced for Northwestern tonight.
"It feels great," Sina told 247sports about his commitment to Northwestern. "I think it is a great fit for me and a system where I can be successful. They set a lot of screens and have a lot of ball movement. They shoot a lot of three-pointers all the way from the point guard to the power forward."
Although not known for his foot speed, Sina is a sharp shooter with a high basketball IQ. His game is an ideal fit for the Princeton style offense and defensive scheme of head coach Bill Carmody.
Alabama was the other finalist for Sina, who averaged 20 points and 8.5 assists per game as a junior.
Sina is the first commitment in Northwestern's 2013 recruiting class.
