Ole Miss lands four-star JUCO DT

Ole Miss continues to add talented pieces to its 2013 recruiting class. On Monday, the Rebels landed four-star defensive tackle Jarran Reed (Scooba, Miss./East Mississippi Community College). He picked Ole Miss over Florida and North Carolina.

The story was first reported by David Johnson of Rebels247.

“On my unofficial visit, I just felt real comfortable,” Reed told Johnson. “Ole Miss is a team on the rise. That is easy to see. I want to be a part of that."

Reed was committed to North Carolina, his home state school, before Nov. 13 when he backed out of the pledge to the Tar Heels. That was three days following an official visit to Oxford to check out the Rebels. Reed made an unofficial visit to UNC on the weekend of Nov. 24.

Reed is rated 94 by 247Sports, which translates to a four-star rating. He is ranked as the nation’s No. 17 junior college prospect and the fourth-ranked junior college defensive tackle nationally.

Reed is commitment No. 22 for Ole Miss. The Rebels have the nation’s No. 21 recruiting class, according to 247Sports.

Reed is now a part of what could be one of the top defensive line recruiting classes in the country. Ole Miss already has talented jumbo athlete Jeremy Liggins committed (end or tackle) and the Rebels are the odds-on favorite to land the nation’s top overall prospect, defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche (Loganville, Ga./Grayson). Four-star defensive end Elijah Daniel (Avon, Ind.) also has high interest in the Rebels.

Ole Miss could get more good news later today as four-star Mark Dodson of Memphis (Tenn.) Whitehaven will announce for the Rebels or Vanderbilt.
