Embiid considers six schools

Four-star center Joel Embiid has two Big 12 visits under his belt and will head to ACC country this weekend.

Embiid is a rapidly developing 7-footer

Embiid, a 7-0, 245-pound center at Gainesville (Fla.) The Rock High School, heads to Virginia this weekend for an official visit after positive back to back visits to Kansas and Texas.

"The Kansas visit was good," Embiid told 247Sports. "The coaching staff and the fans were great. The players were good people.

"It was really the same thing at Texas. I liked the campus, the players, the coaches and the academics.

"The only difference in the two visits was the midnight madness at Kansas. It was crazy."

Along with Kansas, Texas and Virginia, Embiid is also considering Florida, Marquette and Ohio State.

Formerly of Cameroon, Embiid has spent plenty of time on the Florida campus now that he is living in Gainesville, and he also plans to use one of his official visits at Florida.

That leaves him one visit for either Marquette or Ohio State.

Ranked No. 76 by 247Sports and No. 123 in the 247Composite, Embiid has been playing basketball for less than two years. He has impressive this summer on the circuit playing with Florida commitments Kasey Hill and Chris Walker. By all accounts, he continues to rapidly improve.

"I've been working hard on my post moves, shooting, handling, passing and obviously rebounding," he said. "I also know I need to get stronger."

With the strong impression Kansas made on his visit for "Late Night in the Phog," and his connections to Florida, it is likely that Embiid's recruitment will come down to a battle between the two programs.
