Columbus (Ind.) East five-star quarterback Gunner Kiel called Indiana coach Kevin Wilson on Thursday night and told him he’s reevaluating his commitment to the Hoosiers program.
The 6-foot-4, 218-pound Kiel committed to Indiana back in July over a national offer list from the likes of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Stanford, TCU, Tennessee, USC and Wisconsin.
“I’m just reevaluating my decision and plan on taking some future visits to other colleges,” Kiel told 247Sports on Friday morning.
A future U.S. Army All-American, Kiel added that he could take all five of his official visits before making a college decision. Whichever school he chooses, he plans to enroll early and begin classes in January.
Ranked as the nation’s top pro-style passer and No. 12 recruit overall, Kiel passed for 2,645 yards and 36 touchdowns as a junior. He threw just six interceptions and also rushed for seven more scores. Through nine games this fall, Kiel is 90-for-160 passing, for 1,710 yards and 20 touchdowns to just two interceptions. Columbus East is 8-1 heading into the state playoffs.
Kiel’s older brother Dusty is currently a red-shirt sophomore quarterback at Indiana.
