Quick Hit: LSU's 2013 Recruiting Class

Though its stellar 2013 class ranked No. 7 nationally and No. 4 in the Southeastern Conference, it was somewhat of a quiet, workmanlike-effort by LSU. 247Sports and SECPressPass take a took at the Tigers in this video feature.

Notes

Early Impact- The Tigers have personnel needs starting next season, so eight early enrollees give the roster a boost. Defensive lineman Christian LaCouture (Lincoln, Neb./Southwest) is a bull and could be ready after going through spring practice. Also receivers John Diarse (Monroe, La./Neville)and Avery Johnson (Chatham, Va./Hargrave Military and the younger brother of Patrick Peterson) could add some explosive playmaking ability on offense.

First-year potential- Five-star cornerback Tre’Davious White (Shreveport, La./Green Oaks) and four-star defensive linemen Greg Gilmore (Hope Mills, N.C./South View) and Frank Herron (Memphis, Tenn./Central) all are potential impact guys. Don’t sleep on four-star cornerback Rashard Robinson (Pompano Beach, Fla./Ely), either. He hails from the same high school that produced Peterson and Johnson.

Nuts and Bolts- LSU’s class had geographic balance. Of the 27 signees/enrollees, 11 different states are represented. Tigers defensive coordinator John Chavis had an outstanding recruiting effort this cycle, landing Gilmore and others. The state of Louisiana is loaded for the 2014 cycle. The Tigers are usually dominant in-state and have a shot at the nation’s top overall class if things fall their way.
