Cage on the rise

M.J. Cage is a skilled post with tremendous upside.

There were a lot of great prospects who played in last weekend's Hoop Hall West, but 2016 post M.J. Cage might have been the best.

Extremely skilled at 6-9, 215-pounds, Cage put up 22 points on 11-16 shooting in a Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei blowout win over Houston (Texas) Yates High School. He also snagged 14 rebounds and had four blocks and four assists to only one turnover.

Ranked No. 19 by 247Sports but only No. 46 in the 247Sports Composite, Cage looked every bit like a top 10 prospect in the country.

Schools on the west coast and also Kentucky are well aware of his abilities. Cage listed offers from Kentucky, UCLA, USC, Gonzaga, San Diego State, Arizona and Washington along with interest from Florida State.

Head coaches from UCLA, San Diego State and Washington have visited Cage this fall, and he noted UCLA and San Diego State as the schools currently recruiting him the hardest.
