Auburn lands Adams

Montravius Adams highlights 9-28-12

Auburn landed a huge commitment and signee on Wednesday morning when five-star defensive tackle Montravius Adams (Vienna, Ga./Dooly County) decided to play college football for the Tigers.

Scouting Report from Gerry Hamilton

The first thing that jumps out when watching the 6-foot-3.5, 310-pound Adams is his explosive first step for his size. While he doesn’t play top competition at the high school level, his explosive first step would remain the same against any level faced. Simply put, his first step quickness is as good as we have seen in years, and his natural strength and power aren’t far behind. Along with that great initial burst is Adams ability to play along the line of scrimmage and pursue from the backside. His start and close is as impressive as it gets for a 300-pound player. Adams will enter the college ranks with an unlimited ceiling due to a special baseline talent and skill set, and will now enter the technical and physical development stage of the process being the key to ascending to reach his vast potential.

Commitment Impact from JC Shurburtt

Credit the new Auburn staff with getting the Tigers not only back in the game for Adams, but for sealing the deal and landing the five-star defensive tackle. You add Adams to a defensive line class than includes five-star defensive ends Carl Lawson and Elijah Daniel and it could be the best defensive line class in the country. Adams fits in a four-man front and could step in right away and see playing time for new Auburn defensive line coach Rodney Garner and defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson. Beating Georgia, Clemson and Alabama on the south Georgia prospect isn’t something to be taken lightly considering Auburn had to come from behind to do it.
