Reuben Foster highlights 10-5-12
Alabama re-gained a commitment from the nation’s top inside linebacker, Reuben Foster (Auburn, Ala.) on Monday night when Foster committed to the program that he once committed to as a sophomore. We break down what this mean’s for Alabama, which is in good position to finish with the nation’s top recruiting class yet again this cycle.
Scouting Report from Gerry Hamilton
“The first thing that stands out when looking at Foster is his perfect linebacker body type. He stands 6-foot-1 and is around 235-pounds of perfectly proportioned natural strength and power with nice arm length. There is not a defender in the 2013 class that can bring the level of speed, strength and power on contact as Foster, who has been making devastating hits for the past three years. Foster also plays very fast for his size, and this is especially true downhill. At the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game, he also showed his ability to play sideline-to-sideline, which includes closing under control and making sure tackles. While dropping coverage and playing space is something that still has to be proven out in time, Foster brings an Alpha Male persona to a defense and linebacker core.”
Commitment Impact from JC Shurburtt
Foster is one of the most instinctive football players in the country, so regardless of how many great players are currently on the Alabama roster or in this Crimson Tide class, there is always a need for a player like Foster. While this one is not going to be over until the fax rolls in, any time to swipe one back from your in-state rival, who happens to be recruiting quite well at the moment, it’s a big recruiting win. This also likely means that Alabama has clinched the nation’s top class for another recruiting cycle.
