Top247 JR commits to Northwestern

Spring (Texas) Klein Collins four-star junior Jordan Thomas proved himself to be one of the most versatile prospects in the Lone Star State this year, starring at both defensive back and wide receiver for the Tigers.

Jordan Thomas committed to Northwestern while on an unofficial visit.

The Top247 prospect had an offer from Utah coming into the season and picked up another one on Friday from Northwestern while unofficially visiting the campus. It did not take him long to decide to end the recruiting process.

“I committed about 30 minutes ago,” the 6-foot-1, 175-pound Thomas said on Saturday afternoon. “I just knew it was the place for me after being here this weekend.”

Thomas says there were a number of factors that went into his decision.

“The coaching staff is great,” he said. “I’ve really enjoyed getting to know all of them. The city is beautiful too. I’ve got Chicago at my doorstep and there is so much to do here. The people are all really nice as well.

“The main thing I liked, though, was the academics. It’s a great school. They’re also on the quarter system, which is something I didn’t know about before coming up here. That’s really nice.”

Thomas is a legitimate prospect on either side of the ball but he says the Wildcats have one spot in mind for him.

“They want me as a DB,” he said. “They said I’m going to come in and play cornerback.”

Thomas intercepted two passes on defense as a junior this past season and caught 37 passes for 628 yards and eight touchdowns on offense.
