BEFORE OREGON — Played both defensive back and running back for head coach Harold Strauss at Colton High School of the San Andreas League (Southern Section, South 1 Division)… Helped lead the Jackrabbits to a 10-2 overall record in his senior season before falling to Rancho Cucamonga in the playoffs… Had 44 tackles, two interceptions, 17 pass deflections and three fumble recoveries on defense in addition to rushing for 1501 yards on 137 carries (10.96 avg.) and 19 touchdowns… One of two 1,400+ yard rushers on his team in 2009-10… As a junior in 2008-09, rushed for 1,063 yards on 136 carries and 11 scores on offense while racking up 41 tackles, two interceptions, 11 pass deflections and four fumble recoveries on defense… As a sophomore, had 44 tackles, one interception, four pass deflections and one fumble recovery while playing mostly on defense only… A prep teammate on the Yellowjackets with fellow 2010 recruit Alejandro Maldonado… Also ran track in high school, posting times of 10.9 in the 100m, 22.0 in the 200m and 49.0 in the 400m… Rated a three-star recruit and No. 41 safety in the country by Scout.com… A three-star and No. 40 safety by Rivals.com… A three-star prospect according to ESPN.com.
