Bio
Isaiah Austin is a 7'0" 215-pound Center (Basketball) from Arlington (Texas) Grace Preparatory Academy. Austin has a 247Sports rating of 100, making him a 5-star prospect. He is committed to Baylor.
June 2011: Austin went head-to-head with fellow 2012 big man Andre Drummond at the Pangos All-American Camp and held his own. Most think Drummond won the individual battle (and they're right), but Austin's game is entirely different than Drummond's. Austin is a legit 7-footer, but is more comfortable facing the basket. So much so that Austin's ranges stretches all the way to the 3-Point line and what's impressive is he's consistent from deep. Austin has an excellent wingspan and uses it to his advantage by keeping the ball above his shoulders in the post and after rebounds. He has excellent hops and can be disruptive inside the paint as a defender. One worry is Austin tends to float farther away from the basket if he's being challenged on the low block. This is not exactly a great thing working in Austin's favor, but that won't matter now that he's decided to attend Baylor which is a program that utilizes its centers in space (not on the low block).
