May 2011: Bird has added really good weight in the past year, going from a lean 175 to a physically impressive 190. Bird has all the physical tools to become an elite shooting guard and projects to a high-major, Division I athlete. Bird was excellent in the first two sessions of the Nike EYBL, but was hit-and-miss in session 3 in Los Angeles. Still, there's no doubt the talent is there. Bird demonstrates that innate instinct to "float" to the open areas on the court while keeping his shoulders square to the basket, an absolute must for any player expecting to fill a scoring guard role in college and beyond. He has excellent form on his jump shot, but could benefit from more strength training to maintain that shooting form for 40 minutes. Most impressive is Bird's explosiveness, who plays as if he's jumping off a springboard. Bird is still young and is feeling his way around the game. Once his basketball IQ matches his athleticism he will become a dangerous offensive weapon.
