Strauser's father Dave played football at Wisconsin, and his mother Dolly ran track for the Badgers. His uncle, Paul Chryst, is the head coach at Pitt after serving as offensive coordinator at Wisconsin. Another uncle, Geep, is the quarterbacks coach with the San Francisco 49ers.
