Bio
Travel team: New York Gauchos
May 2011: Playing for one of the most historic AAU travel clubs, Calhoun represents the program’s tradition well by being a tough-minded, scoring point guard capable of taking over games. Calhoun had a solid, but not great weekend a the Nike EYBL in Los Angeles. His squad is raw at key positions along the frontline and it shows as the playmaking Calhoun would often find himself ready to drop a dime to a teammate that should have been in a position to score, but wasn’t. Still, Calhoun’s natural talent was obvious as he consistently displayed a solid crossover dribble and an ability to finish at the rim through contact. Calhoun has really nice shooting form and although he prefers to attack the defense off the dribble is not afraid to settle for the three-pointer when it’s there. At times Calhoun was forced to take difficult shots because of the shot-clock rule in effect, but otherwise made sound decisions throughout the weekend with the ball in his hands. Further, in true NYC form, Calhoun is capable of defending any of the perimeter positions and was solid on that end of the floor.
