Georgia received a commitment from the nation's No. 1 junior college prospect in edge rusher Jermaine Johnson (Eden Prairie, Minn./Independence Community College) on Aug. 2. Now the Bulldogs are poised to potentially land the nation's No. 5 juco recruit.

Four-star DJ Daniel (Griffin, Ga./Georgia Military College), announced Monday, via his personal Twitter account, that his commitment will be made public on Aug. 16. Daniel originally planned to announce in July but decided to push it back a few weeks.

"Early August, before the season even starts," Daniel told Dawgs247 in July. "I'm not going to keep holding on and holding on. I feel like I'm ready now. I'm ready."

The No. 2 cornerback in the college ranks, Daniel holds almost 20 offers and has taken visits to Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky and South Carolina. After a little travel and weighing those options, he has things narrowed down to three schools, South Carolina, Kentucky, and Georgia.

"I'll just say because there's no place like home," Daniel said of Georgia's chances. "My family loves going to Georgia. The coaching staff, coach [Kirby] Smart, coach [Mel] Tucker and how I just bond with them."

When speaking to Dawgs247 on July 25, Daniel said he was leaning toward a program.

"I've got a place [in mind]," Daniel said. "But it really comes down to those three schools. It's hard to just choose one right now. I'm going to be talking to God, writing down a negative and positive for each school, and keep talking it over with my family."

Since then, Daniel made one final unofficial visit, to Georgia, for its West End renovation reveal at Sanford Stadium on July 28. Daniel also made an official visit to Georgia on June 14. Eight 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions are in, with all of them favoring Georgia to land the 6-foot, 180-pound defensive back. Daniel is set to be a December graduate and will arrive on the campus of his choice with three years to play two seasons. He hopes to make an impact for Georgia Military College first.

"I'm not looking to save myself," Daniel said. "I'm going out there, 100 percent, ready to play. We have a goal as a team to go all the way and win a championship. I'm not holding back.

Georgia has one defensive back committed in four-star Jalen Perry (Dacula, Ga./Dacula) and is also heavily recruiting four-stars Kaiir Elam (North Palm Beach, Fla./The Benjamin School), Tyrique Stevenson (Miami/Southridge), and Lewis Cine (Cedar Hill, Texas/Trinity Christian), with the latter two also being on Georgia's campus with Daniel on July 28. The Bulldogs currently have the nation's No. 1 recruiting class, with 17 verbal commitments, a group that includes five 5-star prospects in Nolan Smith (Savannah, Ga./IMG Academy), Jadon Haselwood (Ellenwood, Ga./Cedar Grove), Travon Walker (Thomaston, Ga./Upson-Lee), Dominick Blaylock (Marietta, Ga./Walton), and John Emery Jr. (Destrehan, La./Destrehan).
