Kayvon Thibodeaux, the nation's top rated player in the 247Sports Composite, has narrowed his list down to a final 12.

"It was tough, it was so tough," Thibodeaux said. "I didn't realize how hard it was going to be. I had to cut about 30 schools just to get it down to 12.

"My final 12 right now are Alabama, LSU, Washington, Michigan, Florida State, USC, UCLA, Oklahoma, Oregon, Florida, Clemson and Georgia. I still haven't decided on any of my official visits but all of these schools stand out to me for different reasons."

Thibodeaux talked a little about what stands out about his finalists.

"All of these schools offer the opportunity for me to play, have great facilities and football programs and are special in different ways," Thibodeaux said. "UCLA and USC are both close to home and along with great football programs, they provide a lot of connections that I will need later in life.

"Bama, LSU, Georgia and Clemson all have great football teams, players at my position will be gone and have the coaches that can develop me in to an NFL player. I would put Oklahoma in that group too and all of these schools have college towns with passionate fan bases.

"Oregon, Florida and Florida State have new coaching staffs and I think they're all on the rise. I like coach Taggart at FSU a lot and coach Heyward (Oregon DB coach) is a real chill dude. Michigan has a great Business school and coach Harbaugh has a lot of wisdom and connections. I like the campus at Washington and a degree from there is big. Politics is something else I wanted to get in to and graduating from there can get me further than a lot of other schools."

Thibodeaux is hopeful he can make another cut to his list shortly.

"I would like to cut my list down to 8-10 by the end of March or early April," Thibodeaux said. "I think I'll have a few schools in mind for official visits at that time too. My plan is to still make a late summer commitment so I can focus on school and football my senior year so I know I have a lot of work left to do here."
