MANSFIELD, Ohio -- A month ago, things seemed settled for three-star defensive tackle Isaiah Gibson and the Springfield (OH) product announced a final five of Purdue, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan State and Kentucky, with a decision date set for September 19.

Then came offers from Georgia and Florida, and now Gibson's final five has grown to seven, with more visits scheduled in the coming weeks. Gibson has already taken three official visits, to Wisconsin, Minnesota and Purdue.

This weekend will see Gibson heading to Athens (GA) to check out Georgia, and he has high interest in the Dawgs. Gibson is in the process of building a relationship with Georgia defensive line coach Tray Scott.

"I will be heading to Georgia Thursday and that will be an unofficial visit," he stated. "I'm looking forward to meeting Coach Scott. I'm looking forward to meeting the staff and checking out the facilities."

"Georgia was a school that I had to consider once they offered, and they will be there right to the end with me," he added. "I talk to the defensive line coach every day, and he's even talked to my mom. It's like we are all friends already."

Following the Georgia offer, Gibson learned he had landed another SEC offer after a phone call with Florida defensive line coach Sal Sunseri.

"The Florida offer came as a surprise, and it all happened in about two days," Gibson explained. "I got a call from Coach Sal, and I was telling him that Trey DePriest is my cousin. He coached him at Alabama and won national championships together."

"Coach Sal told me he was offering me a scholarship during the call," he noted. "He said they liked my film, and that's why they offered. I'm going to go check Florida out at some point, because I feel I owe it to myself to look at such a great program. I will go there in August, or maybe later for a game, because I'm definitely interested."

So how do the recent offers from Georgia and Florida impact Gibson's thoughts on his recruitment, including his projected decision date in September?

"I thought I was done with my final five and was prepared to shut things down, but these last two offers made me look closer at things," Gibson admitted. "I still want to commit in September, but the way things are going I'm not real sure."

"I might have to push that date back a little bit," he said. "I only have two officials left, and I'm not sure where they will be. I know Wisconsin will be there to the end with me, because they were there first and I love the program. Same with Minnesota, and I talk to those coaches every day."

"Purdue is great and I talk to Jeff Brohm and Brian Brohm almost every day," he mentioned. "I love Kentucky and I'm always talking to Coach (Vince) Marrow and Coach LB (Derrick LeBlanc). I was talking to Coach D (head coach Mark Dantonio) the other day and he wants me to take an official to Michigan State for a game."

Gibson is currently ranked as the No. 49 defensive tackle in America by the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.
