Many Texas A&M football fans were upset after the Aggies blew a 44-10 lead to UCLA in the 2017 season opener Sunday, but one person seems to have taken that frustration entirely too far. Aggies coach Kevin Sumlin's wife, Charlene, posted a tweet Thursday night that she says shows a picture of a letter anonymously mailed to their home. The letter reads: "You suck as a coach! You're a n****r and can't win! Please get lost! Or else."
People of 2017: please tell me how any part of this is ok. And to the sender: did it occur to you that a child may open it?#orelseWHAT? pic.twitter.com/Co1s2Hb94r

Imagine being a kid & reading this bs abt your dad. Things "fans" say gets taken personal by more than just the coach. Humanity isn't hard. https://t.co/ueLMcycL9e

The return address on the letter belongs to the Houston Country Club, so it's clear the author of the letter did not want to disclose an identity. Sumlin entered the season on the hot seat after three consecutive 8-5 seasons. After the loss to UCLA, Texas A&M Board of Regents member Tony Buzbee took to Facebook and called for the coach to be fired immediately.
Sumlin took the high road earlier this week, when he addressed the scrutiny surrounding his job. Texas A&M hosts Nicholls State in its home opener Saturday.
"My focus is on what we can do to be better," Sumlin said. "I really don't have time to get involved [with] things that are said about the program or about me or whatever. I've just never been that kind of person."
Regardless of your thoughts about Sumlin, you would hope that most think an anonymous, racist letter is not an acceptable way to express those feelings. It appears that clearly wasn't the case for one individual.
