ALABAMA vs GEORGIA - PREDICT THE SCORE

ALABAMA vs GEORGIA - PREDICT THE SCORE

  • The season is moving faster or at least it seems that way. The SEC offenses influenced by the rules changes and the college football offensive trends sure have taken over. Seems that just about everyone has a few weapons. But none more than the Tide. Of course we have a lot of defensive talent but not much defense to show for it. My humble opinion is that we wont play a more frustrating defensive game than we saw @ Ole Miss.

    NEXT UP : ALABAMA 44 GEORGIA 27

WHY ? ALABAMA : The case for ALABAMA , Well we are at home in BDS , and we have an awesome QB & offense. Always room to improve something, but we are a good offensive team.

ALABAMA averages 51 PPG. We allow 30.33 PPG

averages 560 YPG We allow 473 YPG

    _________________________________________________________

And GEORGIA ? They play DEFENSE. Probably the best in the SEC at this point in the season.

averages 36 PPG on offense They allow : 12.33 PPG

averages 420 YPG on offense They allow : 236.7 YPG

GEORGIA passes for 248 YPG and rushes for 172 YPG

GEORGIA has 50% less penalties than the Tide.

GEORGIA has a TOP of 34.35 and ALABAMA is around 27 minutes TOP.

GEORGIA punts better and is 7/8 on FG attempts.

So......with all of that said, it seems predicting SEC scores are even more difficult this year than most.

The side story lines are well known, many Tide fans being upset with Kirby Smart in the manner he exited our program. The obvious competition for SEC & Playoff opportunities are typically impacted by Tide/ Dawgs matchups. So its an important game for many reasons.

I am an eternal optimist when it comes to faith in the Tide and that faith has been way more times rewarded than not as ALABAMA wins games at a pace like no others do. As upset as I am like many fans with our defense, I agree with coach Saban who after the game reconfirmed that in the SEC the old days of old school defenses are over for now due to the rules changes that favor offenses. Add in bright offensive minds like Lane Kiffin and you have a recipe for lots of scoring . Even good defenses will give up points. *( Now that doesnt mean ALABAMA has played good defense so far, but it does seem to temper losing all faith in a very talented group of defensive players we have. Lots to still clean up though )

So reasoned that ALABAMA will allow 27 PTS which is below Georgia's average PPG of 36.

And I reasoned that if ALABAMA scores 44 points in Saturdays game , that is way higher than Georgia's 12.33 PPG allowed.

Of course all sorts of things can happen to negate much of that reasoning and that is why I dont make millions @ the Sportsbook,

But post your predictions, right now redtusc & Crimson Elephant are tied as the current reigning CRIMSON NOSTRADAMUS . Who is next ?

  • Hoping for the normal choke that Georgia teams always seem to be prone to.

  • Alabama 45

    UGA 27

Mac goes off. We run it just well enough to keep them off balance.

Mac will scramble a lot in this one.

  • After my last prediction i have officially put myself in time out.lol

  • 38-24 ugag

  • Bama 38-Jawja 24

  • 30-27 UGA. I hope I’m wrong

  • 23-30 Bama

  • After yesterday?

    u--gag 41 to 31

... and I fear our 'defense' can't hold them to 41. We have yet to make a damn tackle ,,,,,

......I hope we can protect our QBs

  • 38 - 35 Bama

  • Hurts me to post this, but Bama’s defense is a hot mess. UGa defense will force Mac to make a couple of turnovers. UGA 38 Bama 27

  • UGA has a great defense and will get stops against Bama’s offense. The Bama defense must make some plays or Georgia will leave Tuscaloosa with a win.

    Alabama 34, UGA 33

  • I THINK we can outscore them. But....it all depends on how clean the OL can keep Mac against the UGA rush. I don't think they can cover our WRs on the back end. Nobody can.

I think our defense will have a much better showing against UGA's more traditional attack. Plus, Bennett has never started in a big road game before so it will be interesting to see how he handles the moment.

Two biggest keys to me are:

    1. Can our OL continue to be outstanding and give Mac time against UGA's front seven?
    2. Can our defense line up against a more traditional offense and control the LOS and stop the run? If we're getting gashed in the run game early, it will be over. We need to control the run game and force Bennett to beat us in his first big game road start.

If the answers to those two questions are yes, I think we win 31-27.

If the answers are both no, well......

  • It’s true that Bennett hasn’t played in a big, hostile opposing stadium. He won’t this weekend either with the reduced capacity.

  • Giving Dogs the edge on both LOS. Looks like with their run game and our terrible defense, our offense will be collecting splinters on the sideline. 41-27 Dogs

  • Bamas defense was discombobulated against OM. I believe (hope) they will regain composure and focus enough to keep UGA slowed enough for the offense to outscore them.
    Bama 38 - UGA 31

I wasn't really referring to the stadium being hostile. I was more referring to the pressure of a truly big national game on the road. Though he seems like a pretty cool customer, he hasn't started and played in a game of this magnitude before. Will the moment be too big for him? We'll have to wait and see.

  • I think we should let in ~40% attendance and give 2 fingers to the SEC as did aTM, UGA and AU.

Did you heard what Dan Mullen said yesterday? He wants full capacity to be allowed in Gainesville this week. Apparently the governor there says it's ok to do so. Interesting.

Dont feel bad. Here is a suggestion for doing very well on this prediction stuff .......: Put a bunch of numbers in a hat ....... and pull your prediction scores from the hat ! I bet you would have a pretty good chance.

Anyway, the board gives you a " do over" permission slip.

Why not give it a try ? Its free and there is no judgement as from game to game we all will make predictions that dont pan out. Heck the SEC is wild this year anyway. Most games have been surprising so far. Heck, Arkansas beat Auburn IN Auburn....... WAIT .....they did but the REFS decided that their chances for a free meal at the Waffle House would be better served if they allowed Auburn to try a FG at the end. SO WHO can predict these games accurately ? Pretty much nobody.

    Except the " CRIMSON NOSTRADAMUS"

  • DrewBama said... (original post)30-27 UGA. I hope I’m wrong

Boo on this one but the reality is that its a wacky SEC this season and that might be an accurate prediction. Bias set aside is a hard thing and brave thing to do.

To be clear, you say Georgia wins 41-31 ? Another brave soul. We do have a witness protection program if the Tide wins, so no worries.

    * Its already a wacky year , you might be right.

Wow. Seems enough are predicting the unthinkable Georgia win.

I dont really blame anyone picking Georgia. I dont agree, but I can see why some might go that direction. The SEC isnt perfectly " certain" this year.

Football is important there. As long as the fans are not elderly or existing high risk individuals , and as long as they all practice the best remaining safe protocols, then who knows ? Might be ok.
