Emmanuel Taban

Emmanuel Taban

  • Anthony Ray, from ArizonaPreps.com has tweeted that Emmanuel Taban, a 6-7 wing from Apollo HS in Glendale, AZ, had an unofficial visit to CSUF this weekend and has committed to the Titans. https://twitter.com/ArizonaPreps/status/1117208967770333184

  • If true, that is a surprise. I thought Taban was good enough to play in WCC, MW or P12.

  • Hmmm, maybe things will rebuild quickly.

  • This is a good signing! Rivals, ESPN and 247Sports all have him as a 3 star recruit. Other schools in the mix were ASU, UCSB, Colorado and Grand Canyon.

  • He is a very good defender, can defend multiple positions in high school from 1-4. He has the length but probably not the size to defend 4 in D1 though, unless he gets bigger during the summer..He can also hit shots from the perimeter.

  • Looks like a decent late signing, not sure about 3-star but certainly has some potential if he can add some bulk to his frame. Hopefully we didn't lose one of our other recruits.

  • I do not think he is 6'7", 6'5" may be a stretch but he has the wing span that gives him the extra length.

He was recruited by Kansas State, Texas Tech and Nevada earlier so that may have been the reason for the 3-star. Some even say he was a four star. He was also offered by Pepperdine, UCSB, GCU among others.Got some interest from Arizona his junior year. I believe his initial contact was Danny Sprinkle and should get the credit for this signing.

  • I just saw on VerbalCommits.com that Amel will be transferring. I think he is really talented but it seems all the minutes at the 5 will be going to Pitts, Wang.

I was wondering where we got Taban's scholarship from. I'm definitely happy to hear we didn't lose TSA or Doctor Bradley. With Venzant coming back and Vincent Lee becoming a Titan, I think this could be a really fun team to watch.

  • The quintet of Tory, Vince, Emmanuel, Doctor and Mojus along with Wayne Arnold could be a fun team to watch in a couple of years. I think they need a tall point guard to give Taylor the kind of team to fit his style of coaching.

  • Wow, I like this kid a lot. Great instincts and smooth. Can already shoot. Don't see a 4 at all, just a long 3 with solid upside. Congrats and kudos to staff!

Is Tory good enough to step in and score 10+ per game?

According to the (former) coaching staff, Doctor Bradley may be a point guard at times.

Tory played on the Puerto Rican National team, so I believe he could score 10+ per game.

OK, so I'm mostly horsing around here, but if Doctor Bradley can indeed play the point, and Taban is a wing, add Davon Clare at the three and Jackson Rowe at the four, then put Vince Lee down low. That is five players very mobile players at 6'7", 6'7", 6'5", 6'7", and 6'8".

I don't think that we will ever see this type of lineup, but it is fun to see the Titan teams getting a little bit taller every year.

  • Doctor has hops, ok shot, good vision...Gaber, Marcio Lassiter, and Dwight Ramos (and, Josh Akognon) were Natl Team members, too. Just saying. I like the video on Tory. Khalil as a freshman is the high water mark, 15ppg+/-, so 10 or 12ppg would be solid. Easier said than done.

  • Very high on Doctor Bradley but just need to be cautious with the signings until they are in school.

  • NLI has been signed. Now we wait for everyone to show up this summer.

  • Another Nevada Fr redshirt, Jalen Townsell 6'7", is transferring and is eligible immediately. Vince Lee may have an influence to his decision if we have a spot available.

Townsell was a walk-on at Nevada.

    He sure has hops.

  • I'm a little nervous about this recruit. Verbal Commits won't post his NLI signing, and CDT just offered a spot to a 6'6" high school senior even though Taban looks to be taking the last available spot on the roster. Thoughts anyone?

  • Athletics put out an official announcement on Taban on April 18. That's about as good as it gets.

However, longtime Titan fans know that nothing is really official until the kid enrolled during the summer.

  • And now Verbal Commits posted his signing.
