Silver lining....

Silver lining....

  • We won't have our first losing season. We won't miss a regional in back to back years. We won't finish last in the Big West.

Kidding aside....I truly feel for all the baseball and softball players not only at Fullerton but everywhere.

  • Silver lining for Hooky is that he’ll keep his job another year.

How is 4-12 not a losing season?

  • I'm guessing because it is not a complete season it will not go in the record books.

  • Like it never happened...

All spring sport athletes getting an extra year of eligibility. The NCAA essentially hit the reset button on the season and it is like it never happened.

  • The Silver Lining is that now Goodwin Field can begin their renovations and appeal to elite-level recruits. 2021 season begins now.

  • Mr Donovan, tear down those poles!!

Hear hear. Unfortunately all the capital improvements are designed to enhance the coaches and student-athlete experience. No renovations are planned to enhance the fan experience.

Boooooooooooooooo. (not to you Cal State, but to the admin) Such a simple thing would make such a big difference. Also, we need a new batting coach.

  • Not kicking dirt on the current batting coach who also happens to be the head coach, but under previous administrations, there were fund raising efforts by boosters that helped improve things. Great example was when the Diamond Club asked King George what did he need and what could they raise funds for. He replied, "We could sure use a better outfield wall than the plywood one we have out there". The boosters motivated and raised the funds and there is new outfield wall at Goodwin.

I know the Diamond Club had its own set of problems and was not the perfect booster organization. But any fund raising campaign needs to be run under strict supervision through the Athletic Admin. That's the way they want it. And the determination was improvements need to benefit the players and coaches first and hence this major capital improvement will be going on.

Maybe the next one will be for the fans like removing the poles holding up the screen. Maybe they will extend the screen further on down so that screaming foul tips to the GA sections doesn't take someone's head off. (The money they will save in liability insurance might be able to pay for it on its own...) Maybe it will include one of those fancy LED scoreboards like the soccer stadium recently got.

Unfortunately there is no booster group that can go to Hook or the admin and say, "What can we raise money for?". The passion for this program is still there despite the lackluster results the past season and a 1/3rd has brought. Now that the stock market and the economy has taken a dump thanks to the reaction to COVID-19, any type of fund raising may take a while to reach any level where something can be improved upon.
