Iowa Game Thread

  • They shot seven of 11 from three pointers in the second half. If you don't play better defense than that you deserve to lose.

  • Not always. Florida beat Nevada. It is just that our "great defense" gets beat by great offense.

  • Iowa started the game 2/12, they shot 27-41 the rest of the game for a cool 66%...

  • Mick can beat all these mediocre to bad AAC teams.

He clearly can’t win in the tournament.

It’s the same thing every year and nothing is changing. UC will make the tournament comfortably but won’t do anything in March. It’s getting to the point where people will stop caring.

  • I think the stat that tells you everything you heed to know is that we came into this game 23-0 in games where we led at the half. First loss of the year came in the tournament to an inferior team.

  • From Dan Hoard-

When Nysier Brooks was on the floor, the #Bearcats outscored Iowa by 12. When he was on the bench UC was outscored by 19. His foul trouble was a killer

  • Whatever Cronin has for Moore needs to go and quick, or Mick will die with it. I don’t care what Moore does in practice because his production in a game is nonexistent and I’m not Case’s he hurts you. Someone with more time look up his +/- for every game. His fumbled rebound when the game was 59-59 which led to an open 3 was the turning point in the game and “the best shooter” goes 0-4 from the floor, all being wide open shots. I’m sorry, I don’t want to make it a practice of pushing players out but Moore needs to go

  • Maaaaan, all I wanted was them to win this game so I could go to the game Sunday. I truly didn't care if we lost Sunday to Tennessee. But you have to win games like these. Such bad play

  • No excuses for this one, we are the better team and should have won. This loss fees a lot like the Harvard one to me.

In the tournament guard play and shooting matter the most and we keep getting outplayed in those areas. Mick has to adapt or we’re going to start to slip. I don’t see our tourney path staying so easy. AAC is getting better.

If you lose to a shooting team like Iowa, you lose by guarding the 3 with your life and giving up 2's. Instead we scramble out of position and leave them wide open.

It’s been all season with the inability to guard the three. Never adjusted and I’ll say it till I’m blue in the face, Trevor Moore is useless at this level. He is scared to death to shoot. He double clutched a miss and was wide open and as soon as a guy moved toward him he pulled the ball down.

Lastly, when UC used its athleticism and quickness to attack they dominated but once again when they got a lead Cronin slowed them down. In the past 4 years Murray St. has the same amount of tournament wins as UC.

On to next season. We’ll win a lot of games, compete for a league title and hope and pray when the NCAAT begins.....the beat goes on.

Mick will say in the post-game this doesn’t define their year. Rinse/Repeat

  • Remember when I got attacked for saying fire mick and he’s Marvin Lewis 2.0?!? Don’t worry I’ll wait whistling

  • So excited for cronins press conference. Who is he going to blame now ?

This. And at least 2 of his fouls were bullcrap

It's your job as a player not to foul out. Just be smarter out there.

  • Nothing matters in College Basketball but the month of March. Mick will never win in March. The Marvin Lewis rule needs to be applied in force. Don’t let the door hit ya.

  • All the wasted time today with players that can't help us. Two in Moore and Fredericks. Moore the willing defender who we brought in to shoot. Fredericks has had a few moments but never really panned out. We had an incredible Year.

He’s not a high level player. There’s a reason we only beat our St F Austin and Illinois St for him. And we took a JUCO originally committed to N. Texas St. or a project from Canada in Elie with no major offers. Mick’s staff sucks in recruiting. He and his staff have to elevate recruiting for this team to move forward in tourney and continue run. The bench was really bad this year, minus Cane, in games that really mattered. Samari is a good start but don’t waste the remaining school’s beating out a bunch of lower G5 schools

  • Bohn should be on the phone with the coach at Buffalo right f-ing now.

Everyone kept calling this a rebuilding year. Can someone explain to me what we are building ? Is there something coming I should be excited about ?

A HUGE mansion with all the bricks we are laying!

I’ve said all year the bench is a problem against good teams. Their bench 7-10 and 3-6 from three. Ours, 3-15 and 0-8 from three. Outscored 17-10....we lost by 7.

  • This program is STALE. Thats the best word to describe the current state. The casual fan cant get “on board”, the die hards are fed up with the same ol crap, and there are few people who applaud our effort no matter the outcome.

Change must occur and it will benefit EVERYONE. We have to reach the next level or we risk moving into a place of obscurity. I fear we may already be there....
