Next Year’s Recruiting class

Next Year’s Recruiting class

  • K already keeping busy

Went to see Jaylen Johnson in home yesterday.

Going to see Caleb Love today.

I think we get Johnson, Hampton (if he doesnt reclassify), Kessler, and maybe Boston next year. Other targets are Love and Roach. We need to target more bigs because we literally have 0 once Carey leaves.

  • I doubt we get Hampton. Looking like he will be in 2019 class

Yea you’re right. Looking like he may go to memphis with wiseman.

  • Boston is the best player in the class in my opinion. I hope he is priority #1.

  • Sweet shooting Boston is a must. Also love Jaylen as well (both seemingly have high possibility for Duke) and Walker Kessler. Anyone else?

Duke was in to see Cam’Ron Fletcher today. Went to go see Caleb Love yesterday.

Seems a good mix of guys in the 20-30s+ to compliment the top ten guys so far. I do wonder who ends up getting offers.

  • Roach is right now a long shot for Duke, thus the visits to Love and Fletcher. Kid has never been much of a Duke fan, but if Duke stays on him through all his frustrating injury and personal times I think he will take notice.

In 2021 there are two in state guys who are really nice pg prospects in Cam Hayes from Greensboro and Elijah Jamison from Louisberg.

Fletcher is a really interesting name, he is known as a alpha dawg on the AAU circuit, who will play you hard every minute of the game and really works to improve his game off the game Court and in the gym, weight room, and video study.

One of my players in AAU told me the three toughest players he has ever gone up against were local guys Trevor Keel and Terrance Williams and Cam’Ron Fletcher who he was against at a camp. He is a thin six two and said all three were almost impossible to keep from getting where they wanted to go and they could score when they got you behind or into your body, plus they were a pain on defense. They were physical and rarely in poor position. Plus Keel can knock down jumpers from almost Curry type range when he gets in rhythm.

Duke should cast a wider net than just a Roach imo. They seem to be evaluating several options.

  • Quick note, I sat among the Nicolet fans at DeMatha when they played St. John’s College. I asked the two men next to me if Jalen was really liking Duke and one just shook his head yes, but the other said that “ You know he is from Sun Prairie and is a Badger fan, he moved to Milwaukee to be on a powerful team. He likes several schools”.

He has a really smooth and versatile game, doesn’t get out of sync ever when there were some calls that even I thought were a bit DMV friendly and the Nicolet players were getting a bit pissed. Jalen looked right at our section and made a face after one bad call but it quickly got right back into it.

Talented kid, perfect in Duke’s offense as a part of the motion or horn sets and great at being able to score on his own as well.

  • RJ Hampton looks like he's reclassifying and Memphis looks like it will be the destination. They will be scary good

  • Johnson, Boston and Kessler are the three I feel best about. I advocated for pursuing another lower ranked big this year because I'd like to have one with some experience next year. If Hurt is one and done, we're going to be scrambling there.

  • Looking forward to some Moore-Love and Love-Hurt(s) alley-oops in two seasons.

  • Keep an eye on Jeremiah Williams out of St. Lurance HS in Burbank, Illinois as another guard of interest.

Depends on the coaching , Pari has had several like this if not better and only one title . I’m not convinced that Penny is anything more than hype

  • RJ Hampton is between Kansas and Memphis. He will pick Kansas and the better coach. Silvio De Soulsa will win his appeal next week. Devon Dotson back at kansas. Kansas will bitch slap duke and those puny freshman first game of season.

Yea. We def need a big. We’re gonna lose javin bolden and carey. We need to grab one in addition to kessler.

  • Mark Williams is a close to seven footer, definitely a six eleven kid, who Duke has offered this weekend. He is from Norfolk, VA. Right now he is a four star, but may rise this summer to five star.

There is a nice center at John Marshall in Richmond who is class of 2021 named Roosevelt Wheeler who has tons of HM potential as well. Same school Todd attended before transferring to Trinity Academy.

Glad to have Tre back, but Hampton is special offensively. Wish he'd stay in his class and give Duke a shot, but it does seem like it is trending towards reclass/Memphis.

  • any chance RJ Hampton reclassifies and comes to Duke . . .
sure he would have to share the backcourt with Tre' but that means practices will be intense and ...
if he's a good outside shooter, the two of them could certainly play together at times.
worst case scenario, he stays at Duke two years and takes the helm next year.

Mark Williams is also Elizabeth Williams' brother. Elizabeth Williams was a standout on the Duke Women's basketball team a few years ago. So there's already an established history there with Duke and the Williams family.

We definitely need big men in this recruiting class. We're for sure losing Javin, Bolden and Carey. I wouldn't be shocked if Hurt left as well.

Nah if he reclassifies, he's going to Memphis or something. He not coming here. If he stays in his class, he has a shot of coming to Duke. He's one of the best guards in his class by far.

Interesting thought but I see him choosing a school where he can be the alpha. Too small of a backcourt also. Like our team this year and our chance to win the ship as well as we stay healthy and have a nice bracket (like UVA)

  • RJ Hampton just announced he's reclassifying to the 2019 class and he's cut Duke off his list.

His final four are Memphis, Kansas, Kentucky or Texas Tech.

He said Duke wasn't recruiting him that hard lately. Which is understandable since we've got out PG for next year.

Let's rock with Tre, I'd pick him over any PG next year. Leggggo!

  • Kansas Jayhawks and Bill Self had in home visit with RJ Hampton the day he reclassified. It's Kansas all the way.

This times a million. I do not care for another one and done recruit on next years's team. I am perfectly happy with a sophomore tre over RJ any fucking day of the week. I dont even care if it turns out to be Kyrie-good. The gamble alone is not worth it because he'll end up being very good, but he most likely wont be kyrie/zion level good as a freshman so whatever. Even if he was, where does he fit in on our roster? I mean, I know time would be made for him, but we dont need more dudes rotting on the bench.

I just hope he ends up at Memphis. I don't want to see him at UK.

  • Hopefully Duke is ALL IN on Coleman. Kid has everything you would want in a player and as a young man. IMO, his potential is unlimited.
