How would you defend yourself against a pitbull attack?

  • There was one running around in my gym parking lot today that chased a few people. Looked like it was bred to kill. Ran off before the cops and animal control showed up.

What is your course of action if this thing is sprinting at you and wants to rip your arm off?

  • Shoot it. Legality wise (in KS) it is equivalent to being mugged or assaulted. You have reason to fear for your safety and the immediate safety of others therefore you are within your right to use deadly force to defend yourself.

  • Use my jacket.

  • Kick the living sh!t out of it and then grab the two back legs. Shake until finished.

  • Don't go in the hood or WT areas.

  • I feel like you gotta just let it attack you and then right before it's able to reach your body, just kick the living **** out of it underneath its jowl. It'll probably run away. ......or that could just piss it off more. Bit of a gamble.

  • I would throw bacon at it and run.

I was thinking this or if you could somehow press your fingers into its eyes as hard as humanly possible. Probably have to give up a limb to do that though.
  • Pull out the ol pistol.

  • Empty the magazine.

They are being bred to weights near 200lbs now. 100 lbs is a lightweight. These dogs need to be eliminated

  • Straight kick to the snout with a size 15= dead dog

  • Run. Don't have to be faster than the pit bull , just have to be faster than my girlfriend .

Wrong. Eat the bacon and die happy.
  • I'm fine with pitbulls.  I have never seen a bloodthirsty one.  Bacon would work.

I'd more than likely adopt one that hasn't been adopted by Daredevel, Michael Vick, or the Punisher in Hell's Kitchen.

  • I don't think kicking it would make it run away....I think the best move would just be to jam your thumbs as deep into its eyes as possible.

  • 12 gauge with 18.5" home defense barrel. It's the only way to be sure.

  • Fitting topic for today.  My dog was attacked by a lab this morning while I was out walking it.  I got bit on my hand as well, breaking the skin in a couple places and it's bruised pretty bad.  Luckily the lab didn't do any damage to my dog so that was arelief. He has a wirey and thick coat so that's probably what helped the most.  The owner had to wrestle his dog off mine...seemed like an eternity.

But it made me think about how hard it must be to fight off a pit bull.  Once their jaws are locked, you can't do much.

  • Sweep the legs.

  • Good lord, so much dumb Internet tuff guy in this thread.

They're roaming the streets looking to attack!!!

I'll go get my gun, and pump it full of a whole magazine!!!

    Once their Jawzzz lock!!!!!

I hope you're all t-shirt KU fans and not actual University of Kansas graduates.

  • I've yet to meet a pit that made me nervous, most that I've been around were very sweet dogs. They do have incredible clenching power. Dogs have some very clear tells that show when they are agitated that they literally can't control, I have a feeling that the majority of dog attacks are avoidable if people would be more aware. However, as a grown man I just don't see a dog doing much damage unless they caught me completely off guard. I think it's mostly a mentality, I don't think most people realizethe amount of damage a grown human can do if they can mentally deal with the brutality.
