Louisiana wide receiver signee Kyren Lacy added a fourth star from 247Sports in the final Top247 rankings release on Tuesday, marking the second straight year that Billy Napier & Co. inked a 247Sports four-star prospect.
After a senior season in which he tallied 54 receptions for 864 yards along with 18 touchdowns, the 6-2, 210-pound wideout showed enough that he needed a sizable bump in rankings. Coupled with his strong athleticism, 247Sports recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks said it was almost a no-brainer.
“Lacy was a very good receiver in his junior season in 2018, but he took his game to another level as a senior," Brooks said. "He owns college-ready size that will give him matchup advantages as soon as he gets to campus. He plays faster than you would expect a receiver of his size and can stretch the field in the vertical passing game.
"Something that is increasingly important not only to us from a scouting standpoint, but to coaches and personnel departments doing the actual recruiting, is multi-sport participation. If you want to have some fun, turn on Lacy’s basketball tape and you will find out what kind of all-around athlete he is, not only in raw athleticism, but in dexterity, hand-eye coordination, competitiveness, and intangibles.”
247Sports now ranks Lacy as the No. 296 overall prospect in the country, No. 50 wide receiver nationally and No. 12 prospect in the state of Louisiana. The industry-generated 247Sports Composite has Lacy as the No. 160 overall wide receiver prospect in the country and No. 44 overall prospect in Louisiana.
UL's 2020 class currently ranks No. 82 nationally and No. 2 in the Sun Belt Conference, according to the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting rankings. On 247Sports, the Ragin' Cajuns sit at No. 69 overall in the country and No. 1 in the Sun Belt Conference with 18 prospects on board.
Lacy joins a 2020 signing class that includes Jackson (La.) East Feliciana athlete Caleb Anderson, New Iberia (La.) Catholica athlete Trey Amos, Shreveport (La.) Northwood offensive guard Cory Marshall, New Orleans (La.) defensive tackle Sonny Hazard, Reserve (La.) East St. John wide receiver Dontae Fleming, Evergreen (Ala.)
