Big week ahead for LSU basketball

LSU basketball has a big week ahead with two games that will help shape the Tigers’ postseason chances.

LSU basketball has a big week ahead with two games that will help shape the Tigers’ postseason chances.

LSU (14-10, 5-7) travels to Alabama on Tuesday and gets Missouri at the PMAC on Saturday.

The Tigers currently have an RPI that sits at No. 77 with CBSSports.com. That ranking will rise if LSU is able to upset the Crimson Tide (16-9, 7-5), who currently have an RPI at No. 33.

Alabama won the first meeting a month ago, 74-66, so Will Wade’s club will be looking for revenge.

Missouri enters the week at 17-8 overall and 7-5 in SEC play with an RPI at No. 23.

This two-game stretch will be a big test for the Tigers, their toughest back-to-back games since losing at Auburn and Tennessee on Jan. 27 and Jan. 31 by 25 and 23 points, respectively.

If LSU can somehow muster wins in both contests, it will make the final two weeks of the regular season must-see TV.

The Tigers are currently projected as a No. 5 seed in the NIT Tournament with NYC Buckets.

String together several victories, starting with Alabama and Missouri, and some projections will shift from the NIT to the NCAA Tournament.
