InsideTheU has confirmed that the Kentucky verbal commit is spending his Thursday in Coral Gables with his uncle. The two watched the Hurricanes practice this morning.

Smith, who is ranked by 247Sports as the nation's No. 12 safety prospect, has been committed to the Wildcats since June, but UM is giving him plenty to think about after offering him a scholarship back in February.

The rising senior has drawn comparisons to current Miami defensive back Jaquan Johnson because of his physical style of play.

"I felt at home," Smith said the last time he was on campus. "The coaches keep telling me how I would be a fit in the defense and how bad that they want me."

Smith (5-11, 205) totaled 108 tackles and an interception this past season for a Chaminade-Madonna program that won a 3A state title.
