Michigan added to their 2019 offensive line haul on Wednesday night when Cincinnati (OH) Moeller 2019 offensive lineman Zach Carpenter verbally pledged to the Wolverine staff.

He tweeted out his pledge with a simple "Committed" late Wednesday night.

This commitment comes after a wealth of 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions came in for Clemson following the Tigers' offer to Carpenter less than two weeks ago. Michigan now has five verbal commitments on the offensive line as Carpenter joins Karsen Barnhart, Trente Jones, Jack Stewart and longtime verbal Nolan Rumler in the fold.

The Cincinnati native visited Michigan last month and was offered by the Wolverines on the visit. Head coach Jim Harbaugh was the highlight of the visit as Carpenter spoke with 247Sports following it.

"It really gave me an idea of what Coach Harbaugh was like and how involved he is with the program," Carpenter told 247Sports following that visit. "Getting to meet and know Coach Harbaugh was probably the highlight of my visit. My parents and I have the utmost respect for Coach and what he's about after taking this visit. The time he invested in us during our conversations was more than any head coach has done at any school we’ve visited to date. We truly feel like he treated us like family and are grateful for his transparency and honesty (during the visit)."

Another major factor for Carpenter was offensive line coach Ed Warinner, who was the primary recruiter for his services. Warinner recruited him during his time at his last coaching stop and was one of the catalysts behind the original offer.

A potential road-grader on the interior of the offensive line, Carpenter got to watch Warinner up close and personal when he came in for a practice during a second visit and came away incredibly impressed with what he saw while he was there.

"Coach Warinner offered me while he was at Minnesota, so I'm already familiar with him," he noted. "I like the way he coaches. He's direct but not in an aggressive way. He works on the smallest details with his players to put them in the best position to succeed. He doesn't say a ton, but when he does you listen."

With Carpenter now on board, Michigan will be ultra-selective in how they choose to finish out their recruiting board up front. Among the names they continue to be connected to are four-stars William Harrod, Xavier Truss, Trevor Keegan and Danielson Ike among others. Michigan also holds their spot at the top of the Big Ten with this commitment as the Wolverines still sit at fifth overall in the 247Sports Composite rankings.
