#6 Nevada vs Akron Game Thread

  • Akron is 7-4, though each loss has been by 5 or less points, including a 3 point loss to then #16 Clemson. Akron has a terrible 330 SOS but difference of 12 points in 4 games and they could be 11-0... Would have helped our schedule a bit anyways.

  • This game is indicative of the kind of luck Nevada has had in getting quality teams on its schedules of late. The Zips have finished with 20 or more wins in 14 of the last 15 seasons -- pretty darn good for a MAC team, right? So what happens when Nevada pays them to come here? They promptly regress back to mediocre form. banghead

Just like BYU, it's another normally reliable non-power conference team having an unusually off year and impacting Nevada's SOS.

  • Just WIN Baby!!

  • Will be interesting to see what kind of student attendance this game draws. Winter break does tend to impact student attendance dramatically.

Don't have any source on this, but some people were talking about the 3 pack being in the student section? Maybe upper bowl?

That is what I have read. I hope the students at least fill the lower student section. We'll see how well that three pack sells.

That would explain why the only tickets available for this week are in that three-game mini plan. They're all games over winter break when many students go home.

Smart move to generate some revenue and fill those seats.

I hope it's smart. It's a $72 purchase. That might turn away a lot of fans who ere willing to check out one game.

Yep, the three game package for $72 (Akron, USU, and SJSU) are for seats in the upper bowl student section. I’ll be curious to see how many they can sell but it’s a pretty sweet deal. Especially considering Utah State (despite the loss tonight) looks solid.

  • Maybe they'll open up to single tickets and a two pack Saturday morning. Hope they sell well, great Christmas present!
