RIP former NC State guard Kelsey Weems

  • Discussion
  • My husband was giddy when he heard the news. I was ashamed of his behavior. I remembered that he and Weems got in a fight over pickup basketball in1987. My husband had to get6 stitches on the back of his head.Still disappointed that my husband is so happy

  • Sounds like your husband needs help.

Some things are better left unsaid. This would be one of those things.

  • Sad news. Much as I love to ridicule State, they've had a number of former players die young. Don't wish that on anybody.

  • I can still vividly picture being in the Cap Center and watching him deny The Jet on the inbounds play (following the Del Negro free throws from the bogus foul call on Joe Wolf), forcing Wolf to bring the ball up court...

Thanks for sharing that is classic. People acting like they wouldn't feel the same way are probably lying to themselves. That said, RIP guy I didn't know who played for a school I don't root for. IDK.

  • Exactly, why even share that about your husband?

Or, much more likely, people actually do not feel the same way because they don't have a warped perspective on life.

I was around for that era & remember Kelsey Weems. I never liked him & never have liked NC State.

That being said...this is tragic & he died way-too-young. I hate to hear this news. RIP, Kelsey Weems.

I am thinking someone has problems that aren't related to Kelsey Weems … other wise why post it on a UNC basketball board for everyone to see ???

    MEL

  • Hey, I posted because I remember Weems vividly and think it's a shame for anyone to die that young and presumably leave family behind. Just hearing the name reminds me of a lot of hard-fought rivalry games in you youth. That's it.

I don't pull for State players during the game, but life is a l'il bigger

    Grow up.

    The obsession continues. I'm amused.

Obsession? Not at all. You seem the be the one obsessed as apparently you are keeping track of my responses.

I tend to respond to the posts where I either significantly agree or significantly disagree. Your consistently horrible posts (like the troubling one on this thread) fall into the latter category.

If you really think most UNC fans would welcome this news, then you are in need of some serious therapy.

Lol....if anyone needs help it's the wife. No wife in her right mind would rail her husband online like that unless she was holding a grudge. My opinion.....she's trolling.

  • Terrible sorry to hear that

FWIW I’m pretty disappointed you would tell this

It appears trolling is his/her specialty.

  • Your husband is a piece of shit. Kelsey was not a 20 year old man.
He was a married man with kids and grandkids who are now devastated and heart broken over this loss. Anyone who finds joy from someone dying of lung cancer and suffering is going straight to hell. Good thing cause Kelsey would kick his ass in Heaven one more time. Feel sorry for you wifey, but then again you put up with it.

You do realize you're likely calling out a member of your own fan base, right? You see there is no love lost between the three triangle area teams, but of the three teams the fan base of NCSU is the one most likely to stoop this low. I mean think about it for a moment......why would there be a thread about Kelsey Weems and his death on a UNC message board, and why would a "wife" posing to be the wife of a UNC fan call her husband out like this? You got suckered by a member of your own fan base.

    Your husband is a jackass

  • I certainly hope no Tar Heel fans fell for this bait.

Whenever a player that Carolina battled over the years dies, there is always a thread about that player. Over the years there have been threads about the deaths of Lorenzo Charles and Charles Shackelford. All 3 of these deaths have stunned me as I went to college with them. We’re all the same age and came of age together. The 80s with these 3 were awesome.
