Laurinaitis on how spring college football season might work

then start oct 1 nov dec league only then 2022 regular season. this idea sucks but could work to give reasonable recovery time. no spring practice.

  • Unless the draft is being pushed back quite a bit this a horrible idea... Top draft prospects won’t even likely play under this scenario.

Also the science would say two football seasons in one calendar year is way worse on a young college athletes body than COVID-19..

    ^^^^^ This.

College fball in the spring? Not. Gonna. Happen. !!!! Fall football or BUST
  • It really is a bad situation all around if they cancel the fall season, but I am firmly in the camp of no season in the spring. What they do with eligibility for the players would be difficult, but I think it is easiest aspect to deal with. Perhaps you relax the 85 scholarship rule for a season or two to accommodate the players who were impacted.

  • So if they go to spring football 2021 then play fall 2021 we are going to take backup players at multiple positions and make them starters even though they may not be ready for the task? We aren't going to run full practices with them? These are guys who under normal circumstances are not ready to play and are still developing their game, still learning to play and we aren't going to run full practices?

Yep, this sounds like a recipe for success.

Furthermore, Gene Smith was quoted last week as saying Ohio State could run its current athletic department for 1 calendar year without football. Imagine the position that Purdue, Northwestern, Washington St, Mississippi St., and NC State are in if they have no money from football coming in the door this fall. They may not have cash to run any winter sports or spring sports in 2020-21.
