Steve Says: Is there hope for a 2020 college football season?

  • Channel 6 just ran a poll on whether OSU athletes should be working out it went 64 percent no to 36 percent yes Egads

  • Gosh. Another article written by Bucknuts that is doom and gloom. Everything written lately is fear porn. The goalposts have moved so much. First it was to flatten the curve, now it’s no positive tests. If I wanted to read another article written about this I could have just looked at all the other threads started the last couple of days. Unfortunately, this won’t be over or extended until the beginning of Nov and we all know why. Anyone thinking otherwise is delusional

    Yep

  • One of your friends in port clinton thought just like up until a week. When he died. 37 healthy, no pre-existing conditions. Ran around screaming that it was all hype. how'd that work out for him?

  • It was not intended as doom and gloom ... if you have 37 people on your team test positive you aren’t playing a game for a while ... I know that’s an exaggeration but I’m just trying to provide some real world insight to this .... don’t discount a parents revolt, if a school fails with their protocol they are going to get killed on social media and in the press ... MLB caught flack for its early lack of testing good news is these schools have their own hospitals and labs for the most part

  • Hey keep a good thought ... if numbers trend better next 3 weeks we might be OK

  • Well for the kids sake let’s hope what ever they need to see happens. I look at all of the great opportunities these kids are missing out on from spring practice to paid recruiting visits. Fingers crossed for them all.

If you don't want to face reality then don't read these articles. I thought Steve did a nice job of presenting the situation as it currently stands, including lots of quotes from people whose job it is to manage college athletics programs.

Yes and we’ve gotten this at nasuem the last couple of days. What he said was already talked about in countless other threads with quotes from people as well. Other than Jordan Hancock, it’s been all doom and gloom on Bucknuts

  • The staff is busting their tails to get as much new information as possible on recruiting from a lot of different prospects (which are not doom and gloom), and I for one am appreciative of their efforts. You have made it clear, that you won't live in fear, but you clearly seem to live in denial. Things are getting worse in this country as it relates to the outbreaks, and it is putting the season in jeopardy. It is a timely and relevant topic, which like many other big topics get a lot of attention (and creates multiple threads). Happens all the time.

Thanks that was my aim ... I am pulling for there to be a season as I assume all are ... but things need to fall a certain way to make it work

  • I agree mgb. Keep presenting the information as you see it guys. Do we want to be told "I am 100% certain that a full football season will be played this fall, with full stands..." when none of the facts nor the writer's honest opinion at this point in time bears that out? We all want to know when/if we are getting a prized 5 star recruit. Do you want Bucknuts to say we are when all of their sources says that isn't the case? Yes, we are all hoping there will be a season but Bucknuts staff, just keep calling the balls and strikes as you see them.

Appreciate it, we are kept in the dark on a lot of this just as everybody else. When we get info or have a feeling, we will do our best to keep everybody updated.

Well, I know 4 people who got it....2 in their 60s with no symptoms what so ever...other 2 in 30s and lost sense of smell for a day or two...You Sure the guy you mentioned above didn't die from a car accident and then the hospital marked the covid box?

People like you that make everything about politics are the reason that we are in the mess we are in. Everyone wear a mask like Ryan Day and football will be back in near future.

  • I consider this a good sign

  • Same thing with Clemson. 23 kids tested positive when the team arrived. In less than two weeks it was down to 2.
