2019 Recruiting

2019 Recruiting

  • Its never too early to start looking into 2019 is it?

There could be a few early names to watch out for commitments to start to lead this class:
Zach Harrison 5*WDE from Lewis Center, OH
Cade Stover 4* OLB from Mansfield, OH. Cade almost committed at the Spring game. Just a matter of time for him.

2019 #1 OL in the nation Devontae Dobbs was visiting OSU for the spring game. This is big news that he visited OSU because he is from Belleville, MI. Will be interesting to see how his recruiting will be done in the future but hope he visits OSU a bunch more. During the Under Armour event in Cincinnati he was invited to the Future 50 event in Orlando

Ohio State offered Shammond Cooper on 4/27/17. Shammond is a 4*OLB from Missouri. He plays for Trinity Catholic and that’s great thing. 1st he said OSU his is dream school and 2nd his two teammates are also highly ranked players that hold OSU offers as well : Isaiah Williams 4 * Athlete and Marcus Washington 4* WR

  • Discussion
  • I've actually heard Devontae Dobbs being seen on the OSU campus quite a bit these last couple of months. The kid looks like a day 1 starter, would be a tremendous win for him to come to OSU.

  • great info kb. thanks.

  • Two others to watch are 6-5/272 SDE Steven Faucheux from West Chester Lakota West and 6-2/275 Cincinnati Walnut Hills DT Jowon Briggs.

Both stood out at Under Armour's Top Dog combine in Cincinnati this weekend. Briggs has had an Ohio State offer since October. Faucheux could be close to getting one.

From 24/7's recap: "Faucheux is strong and was a handful for blockers in drills. He has the frame to possibly end up at defensive tackle for some major college, but for now is a talented defensive end. [...] Briggs is one of two super 2019 defensive linemen in the Buckeye State. He is powerful and deceptively quick. Briggs was not held off long or often in his 1-on-1 battles, and solidified his status as one of the Midwest’s finest 2019 prospects."

Zach Harrison is a 6'6 240 DE that just ran a 22.02 200m dash. Not fair

  • I do not see how it was possible but his time beats Ezekiel Elliot's PB when he was in high school. Zekes best was 22.05

Robert Smith ran it 21.0 flat

  • Now one to in state OL Zeke Correll. Kid looks like Hercules. My goodness

  • Zach Harrison is a friggin man-child. Hard to believe he's only 15 or 16.

It's not how fast you run; it's how well you run fast.

So in other words its not important to be fast, just be faster than the guy chasing you.

Originally. His older brother is Cameron Wilson, who set every receiving record at Dublin Jerome and signed with Iowa, quit the team after his redshirt freshman year, transferred to Ohio U, and got in trouble there, including being indicted for rape and sexual battery.

  • Bo Nix from Alabama released his final 3. Auburn, Clemson and Ohio State

  • Box Nix as expected, commits to Auburn

  • The QB I expect OSU to land in 2019 is Grant Tisdale from Allen, TX

    https://247sports.com/Player/Grant-Tisdale-90288

Top 247 Rankings 1-4 Qbs have committed to A&M, Oklahoma, Auburn and Texas. #5 is Tisdale, #6 is a Minnesota lean (prior to Chip Kelly at UCLA), Max Duggan looks to be Nebraska, Tagovailoa is a Bama lean.
Overall the 2019 class for Ohio kids is not as high as in past classes. OSU has a good chance for Zach Harrison, Cade Stover,
Jowon Briggs and Rodas Johnson DT seems to be all ND.

Steven Faucheux SDE looks to be a PSU lean
Nolan Rumler OT is committed to Michigan

Other names to remember Jamir Thomas ILB from Massillon, Zeke Correll OG from Cincinnati, Noah Potter SDE from Mentor

  • Briggs is a ND lean or Johnson? Or both?
