JDR Next HC

JDR Next HC

  • Boom!

  • Discussion
  • Sources? or GTFO.

  • Good God no

  • Defense coach. Love it. At least it isn’t Helton.

  • Twitter says he was on campus today

  • Hope this does not happen.

  • As far as lazy hired go, it would probably be the best one we could make.

For those who have trouble reading: I am not saying this is the best hire we could make, but given HH’s tendency to look to the same names every time, I think JDR is the best option in the ol’ Incest Rolodex.

The writing appears to be on the wall for Clay, but I can’t imagine a meeting occurring on campus today. I don’t like Clay but that would be incredibly disrespectful.

TMZ caught him coming out of HH.

  • Who knows how he’s gonna do, (I think he’s gonna be fantastic), but one things for certain, you can definitely take the “soft” label off SC from now on.

  • I wouldn’t hire Jack to be anything but a DC but certainly not a head coach. As a head coach his defenses have been terrible, he’s had issues with players quiting on him, but I’m sure never having hired a head football coach Swann probably thinks it’s great.
I honestly wouldn’t let Swann make this hire, he isn’t qualified in the least and letting someone currently in the AD department that wanted Helton makes equally no sense.

I don't see a line there for Clay. What's his odds?

Good lord, they have Tee at 16-1.

Like 2 or 3 names even remotely realistic.

Interesting odds -- and no Clay Helton on the list.

Knowing this administration, he's probably 3/2.

  • This seems about right for USC

No one looking to hire 7 win Sark so SC does

No one looking to hire Helton as HC so SC does and extends him

No one looking to Hire JDR so of course SC will.

  • It will be all about how good the asst's he hires will be.The defense will be tougher but other areas need to be addressed.

  • Are we all just going to say it's a done deal because he was on campus? I know how you all are framing it and it does make sense but we can't be certain. What a nightmare this is. I can't believe we are playing Notre Dame and for the most part we just want to go through the motions, get beat up and get Clay out. And now, the coaching search is over? Wow!

Interesting read on his coaching background and influences. Honestly I think we could do a lot worse and of all the names out there the only 2 that I think are no brainers over him would be Pete and John Harbaugh. JDR has been around Jimmie Johnson, Tony Dungy, and Mike Ditka.... I can hardly think of a better group of coaching mentors. It’s the fucking dream team of influence.

He was also being mentioned as a DC candidate for the Giants last year.

He’s like 4th or 5th on my list. LOL

I'm not but I've seen how crazily people will jump to conclusions with rumors surrounding a coaching search. When former Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon was tasked with replacing former coach Rich Rodriguez people were stalking his travel itineraries (e.g. literally tracking movements of his plane) and jumping to wild conclusions based on locations he traveled, most of which amounted to nothing and thus in my eyes a waste of time, but I guess that's just the nature of a coaching search and a sports fanbase succumbing to suspense.
