Why Hasn't Josh Falo Made His Mark?

Why Hasn't Josh Falo Made His Mark?

  • Seems as if everyone has kind of given up hope of Josh Falo becoming a significant contributor.

    What went wrong?

    Lack of blocking skills?

    Bad hands?

    Poor work ethic?

Tweener that isn't all that big but isn't that fast either?

Not as talented as he was projected to become and peaked in HS?

Drake London filled the role last year that he could have conceivably filled. Seems like even if he was a weak blocker he still could have been utilized in some way to exploit mismatches if he was as athletic as he seemed coming in out of HS.

    What's your take?

  • Looked promising his frosh year and had that clutch game-sealing catch on 4th down in the Pac12 Champ Game....to your question, probably all of the above. He was one (among many) I definitely expected more from to this point.

    FIGHT ON!

  • we've had our share of promising talent that does not seem to improve. Humm, coaching [I do think we have better coaches on board now, about time]

  • Not sticking up for the Coaching, but if Falo was a product of bad coaching, then, why was The Drake London miles ahead of him? Falo had some key dropped balls a few years ago and just couldn't block. IDK!

  • Good point, but maybe some improve on their own.

Yeah. Look at a guy like Ju-Ju: in the hospital for surgery, on the field 2 days later. You don't coach that. Coaching is like triage: one group will fail even under the best coaching; one group will succeed even under horrible coaching; but the third group is the largest and they are the bubble kids: they ONLY improve with good or great coaching, and that is the one which has completely gone to pot under the weak and incompetent helton. Being on a team with helton as the head coach is basically like being home-schooled with morons for parents. Maybe the lucky genius kid succeeds under them, but the rest become extras for Deliverance.

  • DRAKE! Exactly....Falo was always injured.

He's a vastly underused talent that's wasting away at SC.

Particularly crappy strength & conditioning coaches (just like the Washington Football Team).
