West Virginia's 2018 football season begins in earnest this week as the Big 12 rolls out the red carpet before media days next week. The league's commissioner, head coaches and top players gather July 16-17 in Frisco, Texas, for the annual kickoff event. The preseason all-Big 12 team, the preseason offensive and defensive players of the year and the preseason newcomer of the year will be unveiled on Wednesday. The preseason poll will be announced on Thursday. 

Today, the Big 12 identified the player who will represent their teams at the media days. Iowa State, Kansas, Oklahoma, TCU and Texas Tech are up on the first day. West Virginia goes on Tuesday with Baylor, Kansas State, Oklahoma State and Texas. 

The Mountaineers are sending head coach Dana Holgorsen, three offensive players and two defensive players to the event. Four of the five will be making their first appearance at the event.
