Mr. Draft Brewru Contest 2019!
Hi again, Draft Brewers! It's getting on towards the draft, and one of the silly little contests we run on here is the Draft Brewru contest (or Draft Brew Guru, if you hate portmanteaus). As last year's winner, I am not sure if I am responsible for running this year's, but I'll go ahead and do it regardless. It's a contest where we try and accurately predict some new Browns additions in the draft. Here are the game details:
Submit a list of 8 names that you think the Browns are likely to select in the actual draft. Please give me the full names in order to avoid common surnames. Any entries with more than 8 predicted Browns picks will be disqualified.
You do not have to select a name for each round the Browns are picking in, especially as later round picks tend to be harder to pin down. If you so desire, you can try and get all 8 picks, but the more common strategy is to cluster possibilities of the early round picks in order to improve your chances on hitting those. There are no requirements, though. You can throw out 8 second or third round names, or whatever combination you want. Winners typically only hit on around 2 or 3 predictions. (I know that I only hit on 3 picks last year when it was much easier.)
This year, not having a first round pick will add guess work and/or homework, and likely reduce the number of right guesses. Go ahead and guess, though. There is quite a bit of info that has been published about who Dorsey might be interested in. Do some research, temper it with your own judgement, and see how you do.
Predicted picks that end up signed by the Browns as UDFAs do not count toward your point total.
Entries written or edited after the draft begins on Thursday, April 26th will be voided. Even thought the Browns do not have a Thursday pick right now there has been speculation that we may try to trade back into the first, so once the Commish walks to the podium the first time the contest is over. Edits to your predictions prior to the draft beginning are allowed.
In the event of a tie, a tiebreaker will decide the winner. The tiebreaker is typically a player who has been rumored to go anywhere from early rounds to late rounds, depending on who analyzes him. This year, the tiebreaker will be Temple CB Rock Ya-Sin, for no other reason than I love the name. (Reminds me of the 80's song Rock the Casbah). Below the 8 predictions you make for Browns picks (one of which can be Ya-Sin, if you so desire), please guess the overall draft slot that Rock Ya-Sin (could also be a guest character on the Flintstones) will be taken. In the event of a tie, the entry with the Ya-Sin prediction closest to his actual selection number will be the winner.
One last piece of advice. If you are going to enter, do some research. Last year I nailed the Genard Avery pick because I researched Dorsey, researched potential picks, and decided that Avery was just the kind of guy Dorsey would take. I absolutely should have picked Callaway. That one was way too obvious in hindsight. Prototypical Dorsey pick.
The winner receives the honor of being known as the Draft Brewru for the entire following year. All due respect and honor due to such a prestigious title goes to said winner (i.e. not really any).
So, get to those entries, folks! Remember, this contest is about correctly gauging whom the Browns will take, not whom you think they should take.

Hey look, I recognize a lot of those words. This draft is going to be hard to predict, but less entries, because less interest from Browns fans in the draft. Catch-22.
