Yep, Shawn Michaels just missed my cut. He’s probably 11 or 12 all time.

Hugely influential wrestler, stylistically and great rival to many.

  • I used to love wrestling when I was little. The Road Warriors, Sting, The Four Horsemen, Flair, The Great Muta, all those WCW guys. I lost interest pretty quick when it quit being flashy and fun.

    {cracks open a PBR}Hell yeah we do!

I watched from mid-80’s until the end of the Attitude Era(early 00’s).

Here’s my Top 10 based on who I saw:

    Ric Flair

    Hulk Hogan

    Stone Cold Steve Austin

    The Rock

    Shawn Michaels

    Dusty Rhodes

    The Undertaker

    Sting

    Triple H

    The Four Horsemen

  • I stopped watching once I grew up. So my list is mostly old timers. In no particular order.

    Andre the Giant
    Hulk Hogan
    George the Animal Steele
    The Rock
    Triple H
    The Iron Sheik
    Jimmy superfly Snuka
    Captain Lou Albano
    Jesse the body Ventura
    Ivan Putski

Any list without the animal is bogus.

  • I won't go way back, because I never really watched some of early titans of the industry like Frank Gotch, Lou Thesz, Gorgeous George, etc. If this is entire package we're talking about (in no particular order)...

    Hulk Hogan
    Stone Cold Steve Austin
    The Rock
    John Cena
    Andre The Giant
    Ric Flair
    Shawn Michaels
    Dusty Rhodes
    Chris Jericho
    Kazuchika Okada

Ha ha, I only actually saw three guys on my list actually wrestle. A lot of them I only assume were great because they had moves named after them or other wrestlers talk about them.

  • C'mon no Johnny Powers or Dick "the Bulldog " Brower?

  • Like him or hate him any list that does t start with Hulk Hogan gets thrown out.
He was and is the most recognized wrestler of all time. He was the top wrestler in both of the biggest companies of his time. He was both a top heel and a top hero. And while his in ring skills may not have been the best he was the face of WWE when they went from niche to main stream. Hell he was even a cartoon

  • I’d put this in three categories because “great” can mean technical proficiency or ability to draw a crowd.
And I’ll throw in tough guys you want on your side in a bar fight.

I’ll stick to the previous century.

    Top 5 Technicians:
Lou Thesz, Verne Gagne, Antonio Inoke, Bob Backlund, Kurt Angle

    Top 5 Seat Fillers
Bruno Sammartino, the Sheik, Andre the Giant, Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan

    Top 5 Tough Guys

Harley Race, Haku (aka Meng. #1, but only if drunk), Richard Afflis, Arn Anderson, Billie Gunn

[edit]. Top 5 on the Mic

Ric Flair, Roddy Piper, Ole Anderson, Dusty Rhodes, Steve Austin

  • Starts with Hulk Hogan and the Rock....

Hogan because he made it Main Stream...

The Rock is currently the highest paid actor in the world and started in wrestling..

Fill in the rest of the top 10.

The Rock could be the greatest wrestler ever at working a mic. But from a ‘technical’ standpoint, I’ve never been very impressed with Hulk Hogan.

And Hogan was never elite at selling or taking bumps like Foley nor as fluid as, say, The Rock.

I agree about Hogan however he was the right guy in the right place at the right time BROTHER! He took wrestling from obscure to main stream.

Call it dumb luck or whatever you want but his I'm an American theme at the height of the cold war rang a bell and it put the WWE in a crop ton of living rooms
